>>3406403 >I mean, you can easily break windows at town to get easy money and buy lots of spells and potions, and the game is now a walk in the park. Ok, then don't. If you're trying to make a serious complaint, then that's like asking if every retro game is broken because you can emulate it and use save states.
>>3406403 IIRC, money/potions/spells aren't saved in the passwords, so you would have to grind for that stuff each time you started playing.
If you're emulating the game now and using save states instead of the passwords, you might think the easy access to potions could break the game. The game is much harder near the true ending if you collect 100% of the items, especially the post game boss.
Do swap tricks damage a disk drive at all? I have a lot of burns I play using my fat playstation and I want to run them on my psone, but I don't see a way to run backups on the psone without a hardmod, which I'm not all that interested in attempting.
There's a video on youtube which demonstrates a 'double swap trick' (though as always I take it with a grain of salt since you could always just play with the feed/have a second system and run its output/etc.) which I'll link here (has loud dance music as a heads-up):

As long as you don't have zero manual dexterity you shouldn't be physically damaging your drive by doing swap tricks, though the imperfections of burnt CDs will cause more re-reads which will decrease the life of the laser (which is true whether you're swapping or chipped).
>>3404982 I want to do it on the psone because I just got one with the screen and I want to use it as such. I appreciate your advice either way. The PS-X-Change disk looks like what I might want, so I'll check it out.
Anyone here ever played this fever dream from the '90s? I have no damn idea how to make deals with media buyers. I know I can read their biographies, but that only helps so much, and I want to figure things out on a mechanical level. Also I read that certain drinks/foods are more beneficial than others, like Shark Extract/Strawberry Gel/Plasma, or Bagels/Cream Cheese.
What's the name of that game where you're this red guy killing mushrooms and saving this girl or something. I'm totally 100% a gamer girl who loves to nerd out but I think this one is a bit too obscure x3
I have been replaying through Digimon World lately, and I actually think its a very fun game. Its a lot more unique and interesting than its successors, and actually incorporates the pocket pet origins to the franchise into a major part of the game.
However, the one thing that annoys me about this game is the bugs. Like right now I am trying to get all the medals, and for one medal (the town prosperity) I actually was unable to get it due to a bug (my trainer level was too high). I actually had to lower my trainer level and talk to Jijimon in order to get the medal.

They are generic and repetitive as you can get in a beat'em up but I like to play it anyway, playing with Zangief in a Final Fight themed game is always fun. There's even one-plan games made with it, I'd love to see Vigilante being remade in OB engine
People tend to forget this console was also a major player during the early 90's. However, perhaps one of the problems it faced in terms of being fondly remembered is a lack of memorable software especially in comparison to the SNES/SFC and Genesis/MegaDrive.
I bought pic-related off the Virtual Console and thoroughly enjoyed it. Its definitely among the Top 3 best games in the Castlevania series. Does the PC-Engine have any other great software, especially stuff that is released on the Virtual Console?
>>3403137 Better than Gaiden? Not what I was expecting to hear. Thought the stages, ship selection and customization, bosses, music, and of course the art were far better in Gaiden, and may even consider it best in the series.
"The game's control setup is its most terrifying element. The left analog stick moves you forward, back, and strafes right and left, while the right analog stick turns you and can be used to look up and down. "
Now that we've got that out of the way, yeah, it's really quite a good game.
Not quite garbage, but definitely way overrated thanks to Square nostalgia. It was a decent first attempt from them at the genre, but it's still nowhere near the quality of other STGs made from veteran designers from the same time period.
Would you consider SNES Doom to be a good or bad port? On one hand it's a heavily cut down version with downgraded graphics and unresponsive controls but on the other hand the fact that it's on the SNES in a playable state at all is an extremely impressive feat, even considering it has the Super FX 2 chip backing it up.
It's not as playable but I think it's a better port than the playstation version. I found the playstation version to be bland and empty where the larger graphics (that are still in the SNES version) were missing. Compare E1M1 on both versions and the SNES wins in my opinion.
I can emulate SNES, Genesis, Gameboy classic to Advance and Master System + Game Gear. It is backlit, has comfy buttons (love the D-Pad) and if I take a 20 pack of Batteries with me I can use it for a week nonstop!
How do you play your childhood memorys on the go, VR?
>>3402254 I loved Ecco... and with a PSP you can play PSX and PSP games, too. Nice. Whats the Battery life? how many hours can you play in one sitting? are there stronger battery available to maximise that?
>>3401668 The key was the market was transitioning formats, from one substantially more expensive and low density (albeit much faster), to one dirt cheap and extremely high density (and slow as balls). Sony has always tried to push formats because they recognize that's the way to lock people in to technology and provide a steady revenue source (Beta, MiniDisc, BluRay, UMD etc. etc.). They saw how video games where making a killing, and saw CDs were the next evolution, and made an extremely good business call to break and... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

I was talking with a friend about pokemon and the Mew and celebi give aways and blitches discovered years later. I mentioned something about Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 also having rare unobtainable monsters from a give away. I only knew this cause of nintendo power. I made a topic some time back trying to even remember the game to remember the give away. I found a scan of such a give away. Now, I know nothing of the game. I was just curious, people who've played and used game genie and hacks and such to get these 3, were they any good? Game breaking like Mew? Or just neat... Comment too long. >>3400983 Huh, that's pretty cool. I played the fuck out of that game but never knew it had 'event' monsters. Only 75 is astoundingly sparse, though.
Reminds me of all those unobtainable Digimon in Digimon World, that had all sorts of stupid made-up rumors about how to get them. Of course, they were all just Japan-only giveaways that never saw any western release.
