Does anybody have some pictures, without scanlines, that show the difference between the Model 1 and 1-CHIP SNES models? I have heard mixed opinions on the 1-chips, with some people saying they have more colour and are much sharper, while others say that the shading isn't right and some games look terrible because of it.
>>2781328 I have both as well, and while the regular is less sharp and has more colorbleed, the 1CHIP has a far noiser image and way overbright whites and less dark blacks. I feel that on the balance of things, the regular is better (but I can understand why people might like the 1CHIP).
Not sure if this should go in the CRT thread or not (maybe it should even go in /g/) but it's related to retro gaming so I may as well post here.
Does anybody know any good RGB SCART male to male or male to female cables? I need some SCART cables extended from the end of my cable's console to my SCART switch. I've heard that bad SCART cables can produce a lot of noise so looking to pay higher for better quality.
>>2781185 just look for some that don't have the cheap black plastic on them. Try european stores as you will have more options there. good scart cables aren't just a mess inside. Also make sure they're fully wired obviously
yep forgot to mention frenchpalfag here. I heard manual ones could damage consoles if several buttons were pressed at once. While i'm not dumb enough to do that, i genuinely would like to know if this is true.
Move right, shoot bad dudes until they blow up, move more right, shoot more bad dudes, shoot a boss until he dies, repeat.
Whatever happened to the run and gun genre? Are they still being made? I love the Metal Slug games for the most part, I love Contra and I love both of the Treasure efforts on the Megadrive. Any recommendations?
So I finally decided to take this off my list, like, 15 years too late.
Problem is, I know there's a whole bunch of mods now - some cosmetic, some bugfixes and game tweaks, some add content - and I'm in the classic dilemma: do I Play As Intended (maybe with some bugfixes), or do I Push The Graphics (maybe with that unofficially-official engine patch and some HD textures)? And If I do fix/change/mod anything, where do I start - what are the recommended patches for SS2?
Give me a hand here, /vr/. But no spoilers please.
>>2780650 I only finished it myself a few years ago, all raw, no mods. It was fine. No 'tearing your ass off amazing', but totally playable and cohesive.
Higher res textures really bring things out tho, like being able to read the techno-gibberish on the monitors are nice thing. If you can/want to, get HD textures that leave them the same, just in higher resolution.
Also, Im interested in your opinions about it during your playthrou, so keep us updated on yout thoughts about happenings inna game.
I know many people have been complaining about all the retro hipsters moving into the hobby since 2010 or so, but luckily they've mainly targeted the SNES. As such, it's still possible to get great deals on NES and Genesis games. This thread is for pointing out damn good games that regularly sell for $10 or less.
NES: Tetris, Dr. Mario, Yoshi, Tetris 2, Yoshi's Cookie, Solstice, Krusty's Fun House, Adventures of Lolo, all great puzzle games for less than $10. Looking for platformers? SMB/DH, TMNT, Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2, Batman, Adventure Island,... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Nah. I can actually see why my fellow Anonibro's would bitch- try collecting anything for the N64 over the internet, for example.
That being said, some of the more autistic fuckers here cling to the real thing (when the emulation options are just as good, if not better) and then have the audacity to bitch about a bubble THEY are helping to contribute to.
Shoot me for liking the N64, but as long as you avoid the 1st and 2nd party favorites everything's very affordable. Hell, even some of the 2nd party games are cheap. Wipeout 64, F-Zero X (on a good day), Blast Corps, Jet Force Gemini, Mischief Makers (on a good day) Perfect Dark, Rogue Squadron, Wave Race 64, 1080 Snowboarding, and others all end up in the sub-10 range. Similarly, PS1 games that aren't cult classics are pretty cheap. If you're willing to burn CD-Rs of games, PS1 and DC games are pennies on the dollar (though I don't do that anymore -... FVF Quest was to my knowledge the first FPS mod that implemented an rpg classes type system with EXP. It's basically quake coop with super strong monsters, and a bunch of classes which you can level up.
Download it here http://fvfonline.com/ Extract the .zip into a directory named "fvf" inside your Quake directory.
I'm using FTE Quake and I can host a server. Download version 1.03+ here http://fte.triptohell.info/

>>2779838 does brazil keep making games for it? Are they all just so absolutely shitty no one bothers to talk about 'em? It seems like if there had been a 25 years game industry there there might be a few gems.
