Anyone on /vr/ collect old Nintendo Power magazines?

My best friend came over a dumped some old Nintendo related stuff. Are Nintendo Powers worth anything? I thought they weren't, but the original issue is trying to fetch some silly prizes on ebay. It's 100% complete, and I honestly don't feel comfortable talking it, if it's worth 50 dollars or so.

Just finished pic related, played front mission 3 when I was a kid but never beat it or remember much about it, then just played the FM remake for DS. I enjoyed it, the story was pretty good and the mature themes caught me off guard for a SFC game.

However I just thought it was too easy. Royd was a beast in the short department and I felt like with duel/guide the game becomes super easy.

I got crushed in like the 3rd and 4th mission a couple times but you can usually always buy the best equipment as long you spam missles in the arena. Once again duel/guide make...

Anyone get all the hidden characters?? At the end I could send out up to 17 guys but I only had 16. I also never used Molly's fat ass. She was still lvl 6 at the end of the game. Also why does peewie have the option to use items but you can't?? Did he eat the items??

I am in search of some games from my childhood on the SNES and such, but i can't find them.
So i thought if i gave you guys the information you could help me find them.

The first game you play as a musician character, he carries a violin or something like that, you shoot music as your attack, there was also a girl that would follow you and as you progressed through the game you would get costumes for her that would give her some different powers.

Which games take the most skill? Is quake really harder than starcraft?
42 replies and 9 images submitted. Click here to view.

Well the South Koreans have proven that StarCraft is all about math and they've figured out the exact, perfect sequence for an optimum game. With that said, there's no more random elements, even against other players who also have the math memorized. So yes, with that in mind I'd say Quake is harder that starcraft, if for no other reason than it has an element of unpredictability.
>>
>>3393620
this is the ultimate apple/orange comparison. there's no comparing the two skill-sets. i've played competitive quake 3 for ~15 years. there's no way a starcraft player is going to pick up the game and come anywhere close & vice versa. the question is...is it easier to master quake 3 or starcraft? i think both are deep-skill games, in that one can continuously refine and become more sophisticated at the game. quake demands more physical and reflexive skill, more precision. strategy can take it to...

I was always fascinated with the inner workings of these things when I was a kid. On top of Digimons, I had a bunch of bootleg V-Pets that came with no documentation and I tried to take notes on as much as I could.

One interesting thing about the original Digimon is that each character has a specific chance of beating each other Digimon, with two separate 'type advantage' triangles between Adult Digimon.

That's just the way it is with old games. A lot of them had joystick support though, so you can try that. In fact, pic-related requires a joystick, you can't even play without one.
What's more annoying to me is games that require use of the mouse, when there's a perfectly good full keyboard at your disposal.
Btw it's Control-F1 to bring up key remapper in dosbox. Other emulators usually have something similar.

None of those are ports, they're all very different takes on the same story.

I finally understand after all these years why Mario has slippery physics in Super Mario Bros. It's because as long as Mario's sprite is in a constant state of "Move at least this many pixels even if not at full speed," then if you're falling down against a wall and there's a single block-sized tunnel, Mario will slip into it, even if you're not holding the run button! That's because while Mario is falling straight down, the game is also registering that he should be moving X-velocity forward, even if he has no visible forward momentum...

Or, you know, they just hadn't gotten video game physics down at that point yet.
>>
>>3392738
It was programmed that way, they altered luigis traction and stuff in the never released Smb2 game.

There's also super luigi bros which flipped the game the other way and used luigis gameplay from the second game for the mod.

Speed Marios bros is also made to be faster. Don't have a second player game mode however.
>>
>>3392738
Like most platform games, when you're moving up against a block, the internal logic briefly has the player's hitbox inside of the block itself, and slowly pushes the player back out. That's why when you do the minus world glitch, Mario slowly slides out in the direction opposite that he was facing. Doesn't have anything to do with their choice of physics; momentum-less games like Mega Man do the exact samr thing.

All CIB (Mario 64 missing manuals) for .99 cents each at goodwill.

Sounds like complete bullshit especially since goodwill ships all their games to their online auction. Also, no goodwill price tags on any of those boxes
