Is it weird that when I'm playing a tile/sprite-based RPG I don't mind the empty time it takes to walk across the screen to get to some location in a town for instance, but when playing a 3D RPG and doing the equivalent I get immensely bored and want to speed it up?
>>3654689 Nah, noisier than that. I have almost exclusively fat PS2s I think I have one slim one I don't use ever since I got a pop top. The FZ-1 is pretty close to the same level of noise as them or an Xbox running at the low fan speed. Dreamcast might be the same neighborhood but it's the fact that that the sound changes so much in the DC because it's the actual drive making the sound causes it to be much more annoying than the consistent buzz from internal power supplies in my opinion anyway.
>>3654750 Read the manuals. It's not that hard. You have a universal "RetroPad" for all cores, basically you bind real buttons to it once to not do it for each separate core. E.g. you bind RetroPad ABXY to buttons 1234 on your physical pad, and then all cores from NES to PS will use buttons 1234 too.
they are fine if they can play the games you want to play. Just buy the real controllers and have at it.
its also nice, if you're like me, and your old console you've had since u were 4 isnt up with the times of UHD4K and you dont want to spend more money buying converter boxes or have room for a 60ibs CRT or need to replace your snes that a lightening storm raped but dont have an extra $110 laying around.
What PSX emulator lets me use a fast forward toggle? I want to play Suikoden 1 and 2 and a few other PSX jrpg's, but also want to blast through them like I did on my Snes and PSP emulators. Being able to fast forward through random battles is a godsend
>>3653919 It was the first Star Wars game I played. The Hoth and Skyhook battles were amazing, I really like how this game set the precedent that all star wars games that allow you to operate a ship has a Hoth level. The IG-88 and sewer squid battles terrified me when I was younger. Fuck the Mos Eisley level.
>>3653664 Good question. The left was captured on composite, which the graphic designers took advantage of to create a transparency effect with the waterfall. The right was captured on RGB, which has sharper, better defined pixels, but also lacks the color bleed or blurring necessary for the waterfall transparency effect. Either way, the only real way to judge is to see the two in motion; still frames don't do justice for these sorts of things.

ITT: Vertical or horizontal shooting games where you control something that isn't an aircraft/spacecraft, human, or a robot.
One of my favorite examples is Namco's Dragon Spirit. Powering up the dragon to grow extra heads is very cool, and you can transform into different elemental-type dragons, too. Not to mention some fantastic, very catchy and melodic music.
I love the artstyle in Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension, and I don't even like DBZ. Although inspired by the manga, it doesn't try to emulate it, looking like its own thing, with nice and comfy colors and beautiful dithering making good use of the SA1 chip.
The game itself is also pretty good, even though the flying battles suck.
There isn't any actual color difference between NTSC and PAL except for distance transmissions. Let's put an end to this meme once and for all, shall we? If you want, embrace the glorious extra vertical pixels and brag about it (even though most of the times it was black bars), but the color thing just isn't true.
>>3653086 I've seen some screen caps and videos and it's safe to say the the art direction is piss poor. The fox looks ok but it, along with the backgrounds and other stuff, lacks detail and fail to draw my interest. What makes it worse is the terrible choices for the color pallets.
The gameplay looks pretty basic nothing interesting or innovative. The whole thing looks more like a proof of concept and less like a real game.
>>3652778 You picked one vastly overpriced rare game and assumed the rest is just the same.
Yep, Neo Geo carts are expensive as they are, and the market is oversaturated with fakes. I don't envy anyone who collects them. But despite this, the platform has had some excellent games which I don't think need to be listed here, as every month or so a Neo Geo thread happens on /vr/.
Just don't expect the variety of big name consoles. NG never was planned to be a console initially, and even back when it... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Hey /vr/. I have a LCD that my folks gave to me for Christmas a few years ago. I'd like to have a CRT in my set-up large enough to play splitscreen/lightgun games comfortably (somewhere around 27"). However, my girlfriend hates the idea of having two TVs in our living room, and likes the LCD for watching television. Should I just save up for the framemeister? I have a small PVM on my computer desk, but it's pretty inconvenient to play lightgun games on. Is there any other compromise?
>>3652614 XRGB is amazing, but the one flaw it's going to have is not supporting the lightgun games. And that's not with just the Framemeister. It's a problem with literally HDTV's because of the vast differences of how it works. I've heard of people trying numerous things, but nothing ever works out. No compromise other than using your PVM, or getting a new girlfriend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3tBk-LYyzo
>>3652614 XRGB is great, but it's not perfect. Look up the flaws of it. The biggest one to likely piss you off is that if a game changes resolutions in the middle of a game (such as Saturn SOTN menus), syncing the image takes a good 5-10 seconds.
I beat pic related about 3 years ago and i really loved it so i decided to replay it again yesterday, but holy shit this game has been annoying the fuck outta me. Everytime i even remotely touch any heavy rock without the bracelets it starts this fucking irritating textbox telling me that i can't lift the thing. I'm also really getting annoyed fast by how you constantly have to swap items in dungeons, some screens you have to change like three times depending on what you need to do. I don't know how i didn't got bothered by those things before. Anyone else... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Op is kinda right though. They should fuck off with the text and touching the rock without the braclet. Its like when you click on a Facebook link without ad block on. We don't need that simulated in our retro games? Or maybe there are some sick fucks who like that kind of thing?
>>3652493 Currently playing this for the first time and you are dead on OP. It was so annoying that I avoided ALL rocks which ended up biting me in the ass because some are still movable without the bracelet. Would have been better if once you acquire the bracelet it's always on instead of having to re-equip it every time. Oh, and magic powder lighting fires fucking confused the hell out of me at first also. Spent hours searching everywhere for a candle to get past the first room in dungeon 2.
