Is it weird that when I'm playing a tile/sprite-based RPG I don't mind the empty time it takes to walk across the screen to get to some location in a town for instance, but when playing a 3D RPG and doing the equivalent I get immensely bored and want to speed it up?

In 3D you're starring at an unchanging horizon but in 2D every movement has something new to look at.

I get what you mean, but you sound like an impatient type of person.
>>
>>3654684
Look at all those trainers and tall grass to fight stuff. Not nearly as populated in 3D.
>>
>>3654684
no I'm the same I could walk across a 2d sprite tiled world over and over and not be bored but if I have to walk the same place in Fallout4 twice it makes me rage.

My FZ-1 is much quieter than a Dreamcast but louder than a PS2
>>
>>3654652
You have the PS2 Slim external power brick edition right?

The PS2 fat and PS2 slim internal power supply edition are known to be as noisy as a Dreamcast or Xbox.

The Gamecube is about half as noisy as the Xbox or Dreamcast.
Would you say the 3DO fat is about half as noisy as the Xbox or Dreamcast?
>>
>>3654689
Nah, noisier than that. I have almost exclusively fat PS2s I think I have one slim one I don't use ever since I got a pop top. The FZ-1 is pretty close to the same level of noise as them or an Xbox running at the low fan speed. Dreamcast might be the same neighborhood but it's the fact that that the sound changes so much in the DC because it's the actual drive making the sound causes it to be much more annoying than the consistent buzz from internal power supplies in my opinion anyway.

>>
>>3654651
I've tried RetroArch, but I don't even understand how the controller binding works.

Is there any way to configure more than one controller so I don't have to rebind the buttons when I want to use another one?
>>
>>3654750
Read the manuals. It's not that hard. You have a universal "RetroPad" for all cores, basically you bind real buttons to it once to not do it for each separate core. E.g. you bind RetroPad ABXY to buttons 1234 on your physical pad, and then all cores from NES to PS will use buttons 1234 too.

I don't mean something with a loosely similar aesthetic like the old fire emblem games, I mean any game with a retro top-down art style that looks like this.

What does /vr/ anons think of clone consoles like the FC Twin or Retron Duo? Are they worth it or do they belong in a dump?

they are fine if they can play the games you want to play. Just buy the real controllers and have at it.

its also nice, if you're like me, and your old console you've had since u were 4 isnt up with the times of UHD4K and you dont want to spend more money buying converter boxes or have room for a 60ibs CRT or need to replace your snes that a lightening storm raped but dont have an extra $110 laying around.
>>
It's better to spend $300 on a laptop and usb controllers. Then you can set up the emulator and everything yourself or at least use different emulators so you won't miss out on any games.
>>
Those systems are fine OP. A 50 dollar nes clone which outputs HDMI is soon coming out, and hopefully more clone consoles do the same.

Crimson Echoes;

At the time of the cancellation, the game was "around 98% complete"; it allegedly featured 23 story chapters adding up to roughly 35 hours of gameplay and ten alternate endings.

Flames of Eternity is a continuation of the original project and adds many new features. Its also 100% complete.

Good question. The left was captured on composite, which the graphic designers took advantage of to create a transparency effect with the waterfall. The right was captured on RGB, which has sharper, better defined pixels, but also lacks the color bleed or blurring necessary for the waterfall transparency effect. Either way, the only real way to judge is to see the two in motion; still frames don't do justice for these sorts of things.

ITT: Vertical or horizontal shooting games where you control something that isn't an aircraft/spacecraft, human, or a robot.

One of my favorite examples is Namco's Dragon Spirit. Powering up the dragon to grow extra heads is very cool, and you can transform into different elemental-type dragons, too. Not to mention some fantastic, very catchy and melodic music.

The sequel, Dragon Saber, is also highly recommended.

I love the artstyle in Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension, and I don't even like DBZ.
Although inspired by the manga, it doesn't try to emulate it, looking like its own thing, with nice and comfy colors and beautiful dithering making good use of the SA1 chip.

The game itself is also pretty good, even though the flying battles suck.

I've seen some screen caps and videos and it's safe to say the the art direction is piss poor. The fox looks ok but it, along with the backgrounds and other stuff, lacks detail and fail to draw my interest. What makes it worse is the terrible choices for the color pallets.

The gameplay looks pretty basic nothing interesting or innovative. The whole thing looks more like a proof of concept and less like a real game.

Hey /vr/. I have a LCD that my folks gave to me for Christmas a few years ago. I'd like to have a CRT in my set-up large enough to play splitscreen/lightgun games comfortably (somewhere around 27"). However, my girlfriend hates the idea of having two TVs in our living room, and likes the LCD for watching television. Should I just save up for the framemeister? I have a small PVM on my computer desk, but it's pretty inconvenient to play lightgun games on. Is there any other compromise?

>>
xrgb mini won't work with lightguns
>>
>>3652614
XRGB is amazing, but the one flaw it's going to have is not supporting the lightgun games. And that's not with just the Framemeister. It's a problem with literally HDTV's because of the vast differences of how it works. I've heard of people trying numerous things, but nothing ever works out. No compromise other than using your PVM, or getting a new girlfriend.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3tBk-LYyzo
>>
>>3652614
XRGB is great, but it's not perfect. Look up the flaws of it. The biggest one to likely piss you off is that if a game changes resolutions in the middle of a game (such as Saturn SOTN menus), syncing the image takes a good 5-10 seconds.

Currently playing this for the first time and you are dead on OP. It was so annoying that I avoided ALL rocks which ended up biting me in the ass because some are still movable without the bracelet.
