Straight platformers that feel were adventurous without being a metroidvania. One that really feels like a journey where you see and expierence.... stuff. An adventure.
I think SMB2 did that rather well. You know, in the first level you climb up a waterfall to reach the peak of the mountain to fight a dragon. Or the second level in which you steal a magic carpet, go into a giant vase, to find a key and get chased by an evil mask. And then there is the level where you jump from whale to whale, which is kinda beautiful. The game has some really creative and imaginative... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

This feels a lot like an Euro game in design. The way you're always overwhelmed by enemies and projectiles and you have little invincibility time between hits. The only strategy against bosses seem to be spawn a health extension saber and a bunch of blaster power up items, stand still tanking hits and fire at each other until one of you dies.
What are some useful keyboard shortcuts for this game? Finding it quite difficult to navigate with such a stripped down UI compared to XCOM, which is the TBS I am most familiar with.
Also, any way of changing the setting where the camera moves to where the bullet eventually hits? Because of low accuracy this invariably moves the camera over to the other side of the map every time I shoot, which is fucking annoying.
Any tips on starting mercs too? I just bought a handful of cheap ones for 2 weeks. Is that good or bad?
>>2775041 Google ja2 hotkeys. But ones I used a lot included 'r' and 's' for run and walk. 'B' to toggle between single shot and burst. Pageup and pagedn to crouch, go prone. Also 'alt' to sidestep around corners.
Also, play through the regular campaign once or twice, then download v1.13 and don't look back.
>>2775041 Most of the cheap starting mercs will be fine. A few will have conflicts with each other, like Barry and igor, or fox and buns. If you want to, you can hire a expensive merc for a day, and then keep his equipment when he leaves.
Hey /vr/, what do you do or what did you do when you realized becoming an awesome retro game collector just wasn't feasible?
Lets say your heart really does still lie with retro games after all these years, and then reality sets in and then doubts and worry sets in regarding collecting.
>Money >Space >Time >Worries about rarity >No one to play with >Ease of emulation >It'll all be dust some day
etc etc. Whether you stop altogether or just decide to move onto emulation, what were the reasons why? Where does one stepping into digital collections begin? How do you assuage that "It's just not quite the same" feeling?
As for me I'm just getting into collecting digitally any way I can, but I'm new to the most effective emulators and setups. I'm not sure if I should just keep my stuff in boxes or if I should give it to an actually superior, successful collector. I'm not really interested in selling anything. Pic related, it's an offhand photo of my humble yet very incomplete collection, just some shots of SNES/N64 games amassed by high school, some notable favorites absent.
I've been trying to get into this game for a long while now but I can't stand the English voices. I know there's an undub circulating out there and I actually gave it a try but the piece of shit still has the English combat voices.
Now, even after that I kept playing and fully enjoyed the game. Even got up to the ghost ship boss but the retarded English battle voices finally got to me and I had to drop the game.
Here I am once more many years later and there's rumors of a 100% English Text Japanese voices version... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
