I have one on the way and have some questions since I never owned one before.
1st: I have done some research and see that one can play Japanese games rather easily by simply getting an action replay but well looking for games I discovered an Ultraman game that comes with it's own memory card. How would one go about playing it while the action replay is being utilized?
2nd: I'm a little fuzzy on how saving games works on the Saturn. I see that there is a watch battery that is used on the console itself and that there also memory cards. Do you need a memory... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

How would one go about playing it while the action replay is being utilized? Action replay either works as ram or a memory card. Some incompatibility.

>>2763161 The action replay 4-in-one doubles as a freeloader and a ram cart, and with a quick flash it can bypass copy protection as well. That Ultraman game and KOF94 use there own carts that refuse to boot without them, so I don't think you could get away with those two.
Memory cards are just for backing up and transfering saves, since games cannot save directly to the memory card as far as I know.
They're pretty well made and don't have any big problems like gamegears or PCE's. I found one... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Tried playing KOF94 for the first and have no idea how you're expected you're expected to win at single player. All projectiles you throw will be countered in some way. You get anywhere close and they grab. Every normal will be anticipated or blocked. It is Mortal Kombat 3 levels of fuck.
Post fighting games with the worst AI or any games that are deliberately programmed against you winning.
>>2761409 This is why playing against AI in fighting games sucks ass. They can't program AI anywhere near well enough to actually fight strategically. So in order to make playing against the computer actually challenging they have to make the AI opponent read your inputs and react before your move even comes out.
The result is that in order to win, you don't learn good fighting game strategy, you just learn how to cheese the AI. It turns one of the most strategically interesting genres into a set of cheap tricks... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
This just released on Steam a few days ago. Tried playing SSPortable a year ago and it ran like shit on my PC. I've played and finished SS2 countless times and it's amazing. Just wondering, is this port worth it? I've heard SS1 hasn't aged all that well and that most people tend to skip it but I'm super curious to try this game out!
Enhanced Edition is good but I'm not going to bother responding properly because some asspained faggot mod/janitor that really hates the publisher has been going around and deleting every SS1 thread on /vr/ since it was released on GOG. Enjoy your thread while it lasts, however long that may be.

Is this how /vr/ raises their children and feeds them with retro games instead of old musical artifacts? I hope not. I hope you let your children in peace and let them enjoy gaming and don't torture them with NES hell or other similar torture devices of the old age. Just because you had a hard childhood growing up with these mess of consoles, you don't have to force it onto your children. NES and other is a dying relict for the modern age, no child would bear to play through these games because they look ugly, their unfair and they're no fun. There is literally... Comment too long. This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!
>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok. >Produce OC! Get... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
There is a bit of an overarching story that you can appreciate the most if you play them in release order together with the Heroes of Might and Magic game. The problem is that from 3 onward the games are extremely casual while 1 and 2 are more for experienced players.
The remake sucks because it added unnecessary Sonic 2 physics, and got rid of the time reset mechanic. Ports on PC Windows and GC/PS2 also suck, the only good version of Sonic CD is the original on Sega CD.
Also JP soundtrack is superior, but US also has a good music (Stardust Speedway is better in US ver.)
