How hard is DKC2? Recently I played through the first game and thought it was great. I had a hard time beating the last two worlds though and backtracked a lot to save in previous worlds or farm for lives. Otherwise I wouldn't have beaten it. Platform Perils alone took me about 50 tries.
How does the second part fare difficulty wise? Does it also have spots to farm and go back to another world to save?
>>3647367 >more SONIC 3D Blast is poor as a Sonic game, but decent on its own. It mostly eschews the platforming, but it's a good isometric action/adventure. The speed feels kinda redundant in it though: the screen is too small to see where you're rushing. And Sonic's control is more like billiards than pinball.
Overall, it feels as a different game packaged as Sonic. But a good game nonetheless. Just don't expect anything like previous games.
So I managed to get myself a Dreamcast and burned myself a copy of this. I'm only one dungeon in and so far I like it despite it being extremely easy.
Right now the combat seems very reliant on which gem you've got slotted on your weapon, is that going to continue to be the trend or will I want to make certain characters specialize in certain elements?
Also holy shit, ship combat is fucking awesome. Please tell me there's a lot of that in this game.
>>3647353 There is a ton of ship combat, but it's not very well balanced in my opinion. Also, the burnt version uses a custom decompression system to fit the game on the disk,so the load times are kind of shit and the audio is more compressed.
>>3647357 >the burnt version uses a custom decompression system to fit the game on the disk,so the load times are kind of shit and the audio is more compressed. These are things I can deal with, and if it gets egregious I can always just emulate the remaster
>it's not well-balanced In which direction? I've only been in one ship battle, and IIRC from the demo I played a long long time ago you get a harpoon cannon that I didn't have yet. I... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>3647353 I never really paid much attention to what weapon color I was using. I just swapped them to which ever needed the least amount of experience to earn a new skill level for a character. Also, random battles become trivial once you can cast Lambda Burst/Omega Psyclone at the start of battle.
The way I see it, this analogy is the perfect summation of fifth gen:
Nintendo 64 is like gourmet food. Sure it might be expensive, and it might not be in large quantities, but its a worthwhile investment to high caliber ratio, and its an even better choice for fancy get-togethers or dates.
PlayStation, on the other hand, is a lot like fast food. There's a lot of it everywhere, you can find it in any corner, it may try some interesting new stuff once in a blue moon as a gimmick, but for the most part you know what you're getting. You also wouldn't... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
- play nothing but shitty games no one wants. - download an emulator and ROMs. - get a Wii and buy/pirate Virtual Console games. - buy an SD2SNES. - learn Japanese and import. - inherit them from a relative. - rob a bank, then buy them on eBay.
I'm trying to hook up my old XP comp from 2001 with a 5.25 floppy drive to test out some old games. However, after futzing around I have found that this motherboard has a 40 pin connector for 3.5 floppies and the ribbon cable I have for the 5.25 is a 34 pin connector. Is there anyway to make this work?
The bios does have settings for a 5.25 drive to be setup btw.
They were just covering their asses. They knew westerners were crazy people who got offended for weird things such as religions and sex, so they edited it out.
Most of these censorships weren't even ordered by NoA, the japanese companies themselves (in this case, Konami) would alter some sprites on the western versions of the games to avoid any problem later.
Was recently playing through pic related and the game's arsenal is comprised of mostly non-lethal weapons. Got me thinking, what other retro games use non-lethal or weird/uncommon weapons? Feel free to talk about Jurassic Park games too but keep it on-topic please.
>>3645448 >My version of the game doesn't have non-lethal attacks. Do you have some kind of hacked pirate copy or something? All the weapons just put the dinos to sleep. It's a neat touch and jives with the movie, I can't see Grant mowing down all the park's residents with a machine gun or something.
Now Trespasser it's open season (pun intended) on all fucking reptiles.
>>3644726 It was fun before I started memorizing AI spawn points and waypoints and could clean maps by shooting certain empty spots behind the trees. Also I always tend to get dragged into logistics, getting 100% repaired staff for entire squad, different ammo loadouts, stimulants etc.
I like to build a narrow hallway and fill it with all sorts of nasty traps, then knock out the far wall and let the heroes try to make it through my gauntlet of death only to run into the biggest and strongest monsters I can summon at the end of it.
>>3643983 I registered Halloween Harry, but never got any updates. I really like its music, and the original release did include a dedicated music player exe.
Raptor was okay, but I liked other shooting games more at that time. Even on the PC, everyone knew about Tyrian. However Raptor did have Wing COmmander-like cinematics which I thought were nice.
Blake Stone added ceilings and floor textures to the Wolf3D engine which is pretty cool. Yet, I'll just give Apogee credit for pointing me to call id directly... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
