Recently got a hold of a relative old NES system, got some games for it from a place called GameOver games. system works wasnt stored in an attic or anything, but some games work fine right of the bat ex: Solar Jetman, but other games like The Immortal, after having to fiddle with the cartiridge, blowing into it, pushing up an down on nes cartridge arm, will look fine, but will freeze in a scene, or get random junk letter spawning across the screen, other errors include flashing red light, or power light on but gray screen, etc. i have heard blowing into it (cartridge) someone... >>2930612 The 72 pin connector on the original models bent from the pressure of pushing the games down over time, you can buy a replacement set online for quite cheap and they aren't hard to install. I would highly recommend a top loader eventually though, much more sturdy.
>>2930612 Maintenance I've done on NES cartridges/system was checking the pin connector like >>2930628 said, and using Brasso and a rag on the cartridge to clean it up. I think the connector in mine was replaced before I bought it, so it works fine, just be prepared for cartridges to be picky about being put in or taken out, as they get stuck pretty often in mine and require some hard pulling to remove.
>>2930524 I find the game plenty playable already, it's been my favorite CV since it came out. Really the only issue is the translation and that only matters your first time through. But I think a full on remake would be wonderful. No other CV is quite like it.
I was going to reply to this thread and for some reason it got deleted/404.
I don't know what the hell happened, so I'm making a new Goemon thread, and I'll reply to the last poster: The 5th english-released Goemon title is Ganbare Goemon: Sarawareta Ebisumaru!, originally a Game Boy title from 1991, that got re-released on a Konami collection cart for the Game Boy Color in 1997, and this version was released in Europe in the year 2000. It's a rather obscure release because it's a late GBC game and only in Europe, but that's the last Goemon... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2930835 >Does anyone know why the GB game released 6 years later is so fucking inferior? Graphics, gameplay, everything. It's mind boggling They were made by different teams. I know know which Konami team made the Kidnapping of Ebisumaru (I don't think it was the same group that made the FC versions), but Mystery of the Black Ship (the one came out in the US as a stand-alone cart) was made by KCE Nagoya, the same "geniuses" behind Castlevania Legends and the Saturn port... Anyone know if Super Smash TV can be played with one controller on the Megadrive/Genesis? I heard from a few that it can but you cannot move and shoot at the same time. Can anyone confirm this to be true or not?
How does virtual console stack up against hardware? Is it as flawed as any other animation? I was testing it out with Adventure Island and it seems pretty good but I don't really have a frame of reference since I never owned it on NES.
N64 emulation is pretty good. The flaws with it (mainly graphical) are minor and don't disrupt game play. Haven't tried any other systems because the homebrew Wii emulators are good enough (though I haven't tested all of the games for SNES9xGx)
Hey vr. When i was a kid i was allowed to choose one game by my parents. I took extreme g even though i didnt know it. Played this game really often and love it untild today. Its really fast has an uncommon soundtrack and a good difficulty level. Im not really a fan of tron and i neither played f-zero as kid but this was perfect for me. Did you played it as kid or recently andwhat do you think about it?
I played it as a kid, it rules. All the different bike... vehicle... things were really cool, the soundtrack was good, and you go fast as hell. It got pretty hype too, the stages were neat. My brothers only ever wanted to play the battle mode though, I thought the actual races were way more fun.
What are your thoughts on this short-lived franchise?
As much as I loved it as a kid (and to be contrary to some mouthy dink who liked Tekken), the series relied far too much on style for it to hold up, and years later, I can see why it sank into relative obscurity.
I don't have any consoles, but I have a buttload of PS2 games I'd like to go back and replay
I also want to get some games I haven't played yet Some of my favorites include SSX3, ratchet and clank series, kingdom hearts, ffx/x-2/xii, jade cocoon 2, dark cloud 2 On my list to get is Bully Silent Hill 2 San Andreas SOTC Psychonauts Katamari Persona 4 (do I need to play the others to "get" this?)
Also interested in some -exceptional- PS1 games, though I'm more interested in PS2 games
