I don't really care for "hidden gem lists" from youtube and the like, but I actually liked E.V.O.
Not the best game I ever played but it was decently fun, the idea of evolving and how it was implemented was unique, and I liked the overall art direction and feel of the game. But I'm not gonna force anyone into liking it, if you didn't like it, then I'm OK with that. Or rather, I don't care.
I wish the actual cart wasn't so prohibitively expensive.
I like Nintendo as much as the next guy, heck I even think that the SNES was one of best of it's time.
But the N64 was kinda shitty in comparison

I love the franchise a lot, but this game - not so much. The floaty controls and camera movements gave me nausea and headaches as a kid, so I'm having a hard time trying to play it again now that I'm older.
With that said, the art is nice and the music great, for both the Megadrive and the Saturn versions. I do enjoy the Saturn special stages a lot.
The maneuvering took some getting used to, but I enjoyed it. I would actually count it as my favorite Sonic title from the Genesis / MD era. S3&K was great, but that whole formula had already peaked with Sonic 2. I mean, if you've played one side-scrolling platformer, you've basically played them all. It's nice to have an occasional sequel that takes the series in a different direction.
The last thread: >>2934620 In this thread we discuss clever techniques in games that squeezed every ounce of performance out of limited hardware. If there was ever a time you were playing a retro game and asked yourself "how did they do that?", post it and we'll figure it out.
Impressive graphical effects, sound, and implementation details all welcome. Bugs, although unintended, can be interesting to understand as well.
What is it about this hobby and “completionist” collectors? Especially with Nintendo. I normally ignore 99% of the retro ecelebs on youtube, however one popped up in my youtube recommend the other day that just blew my mind. I had to read it twice because it was click bait. It was a metal jesus rocks video of a guy who had a complete Wii collection. I made it in a few mins up till the guy who had the collection said that only ¼ of it was shit. His other reasoning was basically “I have all the other Nintendo collections done I needed this one complete too!”.

>>2954089 There are some systems whose whole library doesn't amount to many games, making it reasonable to try to attain the complete set. For example I'm trying to complete a Dreamcast PAL set, which is only around 210-220 games. I have around 150 already, none of which are shovelware. Now trying to make a complete PS1 or NES set is just unreasonable in any perspective.
>>2954138 >complete PS1 or NES set is just unreasonable
There are multiple people who have complete NES sets. Complete licensed sets, at least. Not sure what things look like when you throw in unlicensed carts.
>>2954089 My perspective is, any sort of collecting is already a "I do it because I want to" thing, given that we can freely emulate all of those games. I only collect games that I have an interest in playing. I don't... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I really don't think Nintendo had much say in BFD at all. They had pretty much given Rare free reign at that point. Nintendo didn't publish it though unlike most other Rare games at the time, so they must not have appreciated it.
