Diablo 2 ladder is resetting on 11-22. I'm putting together a group and have some open slots. Anyone from VR interested ? Barb/BO Necro/LR 1 freebie class (not lightning sorc. Fire sorc, concentration pally, conviction pally)
Players open to using vent/discord/curse preferred.
>>3622053 US East soft core. You would be third sorc. Which would be kinda cool. Just HAVE to fill in that barb/BO slot which I might have to do myself. Group chat still in the air, just going to use what most of the group already has. In meantime just need some sort of contact email/something. Im sending group conformation messages out 11-19 to make sure group is solid.
I'd like to play through hardcore useast with a group of people. Would be fun to play through hell as a group with shitty gear, rather than going summonmancer or playing the economy game on d2jsp. Would anyone be interested in that?
is the european version of sonic CD slower than the north american one? i wanted to play the european one because I like the music better, but I swear the Sonic is a bit slower and he floats in the air for longer.

What exactly was Nintendo's logic when designing the Famicom/NES's soundchip?
I can understand why the pulse, noise and DPCM channels made sense at the time, but why dedicate an entire sound channel to playing triangle waves? More specifically, triangle waves that lack a volume control and go out of tune in high octaves?
I don't think any other sound chip has done that before or since. Triangle waves can be good for soft atmospheric music, as a lot of Commodore 64 music will prove, but they're terrible for hard driving basslines, which is what most chiptunes at the time were trying to do. With only 3 melodic channels there wasn't a whole lot of choice.
It only would've taken 16 bytes of RAM to implement a wavetable channel like the Game Boy has, and only one bit to add a feature to toggle between triangle/sawtooth waves. So why didn't they do that instead?
The NES's triangle isn't a true triangle wave. It's 4-bit, meaning it cycles through 16 steps up then 16 steps down. That pop between frequencies makes it more audible than a pure triangle wave (which you would barely be able to hear).
Actually, the NES functions as if the triangle channel was a wavetable, but they encoded it in a ROM chip instead of RAM, so you can't change the wave shape. Pity, really. It could've been so much better.
>>3620330 You barely even saw him in 7. He was just a voice and you couldn't tell whether he was helping or mocking you. My problem was that he became so inept in SI and Pagan which ruined his credibility. A recurring villain was the least the series needed.
>>3619647 Just sat through that whole story and man... I didn't like Gamestop before, but this is truly a tragedy to befall on the retro community. Never again will I even consider walking into a place that clearly cares so little about the products it holds, and even less so for the customers that they service. I collect a fair share of retro games myself and the idea that someone could trade in something like Action 52 to only have it not get recognized by their directory and then give the customer literally five cents!?... Did I just have to grow up with these games in order to love them? I played the original Crash games for the first time this year, and I guess they are decent platformers but I just don't understand all the "greatest 3D platformers" and "greatest games on the PS1" claims I've seen.
I liked the Quest for Glory series the most, part 2, in particular. It was just the perfect marriage of adventure game and RPG elements for me and it's just amazing for the time it came out too.
I'm not much of a hardliner on sticking it out when you're stuck. Solutions can use some really fucked up logic at times. I'll probably struggle with a puzzle for an hour or maybe quit the game for a day before looking up the solution when I'm playing an old game.
>>3619362 I didn't use a guide, but I had known a fair share about the game already thanks to other sources, so I didn't need a guide, but kinda already had one if that makes sense? Anyways, I fucking love this game. Have beaten it several times. Hang-gliding section is EZ
There is also some actual value in these consoles, games, and even the original artwork. An original cart can sell for up to $200 on the secondary market. Also, most of those illegal emulations are glitchy.
honestly i'll never understand how anyone can not think that CV is the point of no return in regards to the downward spiral of quality. so many things changed for the worse in that game.

>>3602978 This is true, but like >>3602920 alludes to, it doesn't make sense how rpg maps tend to have a south pole that wraps around to the north pole, so they're not spherical either. If anything they're flat with warp points around the edges.
The gaming industry abandoned 2D just a few years too early in the mid 90s for the sake of innovation. Growing up in the 16 bit Generation the next logical step graphically would have been more frames of animation, more precise texture rotation/scaling, higher resolution and fully animated cutscenes with full voice acting. But it never happened. Even when playing new games like DOOM I imagined how good multi perspective sprite enemies advancing would look with more frames and angles.
This is was most apparent to me with the US saturn release, as they canned most the 2D... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
