mupen64plus command line version it depends on the game which emulator is best to use: http://bhemuhelp.co.nf/n64mgcl/N64ConfigList.htm
but it works for most games.
the only downside is its hard to get started with and the controller is a bitch to configure
these are the settings I use that work for 90% of the games including Shadows of the Empire and Rogue Squadron: >mupen64plus.exe --windowed --resolution 1024x768 --gfx mupen64plus-video-glide64mk2.dll --audio mupen64plus-audio-sdl --input mupen64plus-input-sdl --rsp mupen64plus-rsp-hle.dll... why must this neato system have such a cool gimmick, a surprisingly good library, but also have a super flimsy design? I could be playing Mario Clash right now but my unit's eyes don't work and the oven does nothing.
>>3600874 Of what I've played, Mario Clash, Wario Land, and Red Alarm are choice. I haven't played the other well spoken-of games, like Teleroboxer or Vertical Force, and there's some very rare/expensive games (Innsmouth no Yakata, Jack Bros.) worth checking out (probably via a flash cart though). There's also prototypes, unreleased games, and homebrew that I haven't tried either, but which look pretty good.
But honestly, I could keep one around just for Mario Clash. I love that game. Emulation... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>first mission >navpoint is in an asteroid field >fly into the field, crash into one of the asteroids, die instantly >okay maybe I was going too fast, this time I go in slow and really take my time dodging them, almost reach the nav point, an asteroid comes in at the speed of light and instantly kills me again So is there any method to dodging the asteroids or is this game just a bunch of garbage?

>yfw you realize that Barba's name was always the same as Volvagia's in Japan I just realized that Volvagia is literally the Barba battle in 3D instead of a 2D side scrolling perspective. They both emerge from holes in the ground and spit fire if you're not quick enough to hit them.

Can you guys think of any interesting things video games did to work WITH limitations of technlology rather than against it? For example, I love the way Poo's trial in Earthbound and the final battle of Mother 3 use the text-based battle system to convey feelings you couldn't directly translate to a modern visual presentation
I think that random encounters is an early example of using procedural content to work around the limitation both of memory and manpower. You don't have to define every single encounter, but just regions and party lists.
Another one would be how maps are handled in rpgs. For classic rpgs like FF and DQ, instead of defining every single location, you can only visit the most important ones, and the rest of the time is spent on travelling, which makes the player feel like he is in the middle on an epic journey without feeling boredom because of walking through endless landscapes.
But on the other hand, Zelda and pokemon went the other way. The map is well defined but smaller. Every single place is interesting
Anyone played this shit? I can't keep playing because the game just freezes during a cutscene. A staircase is supposed to come out as a shortcut, but it just gets stuck halfway and the cutscene never ends. Wonder if it's juts the emulator? I'm using PCSXR-pgxp. And this isn't the only game I'm playing where a red haired protagonist gets endlessly stuck in a cutscene. Ys Celceta PC is the same.
Hello, not sure if this is the place to ask but i've tried on alot of diffrent forums with no success.
Sorry for vague discription it's the best i can do.
It's a very old RTS. From the 90's for sure, one of the first fantasy RTSs. I remember it only had 2 races. They represented Light/Darkness Good/Evil. The races had a big variety of units and tactics to handle situations. Orcs, demons and such for the Evil and humans knights (dwarves and evles i think) etc. It had rought mechanics very punishing if you don't have good control over your... Comment too long. >>3596789 No, if anything sell them to a local retro game store instead. Gamestop can't be trusted to not trash any inventory they can't sell - not to mention they probably won't give you as much money as a store that actually deals in retro games.
>>3596789 God no! You'll get $1 per game (if you're lucky). Gamestop doesn't care about your "l@@k ultr@ r@re original" box of plastic. It will all end up in the dumpster, and ultimately end up in the collection of your local dumpster diver. Selling to a local game store will get you a quick sale, but at about half of current value. Your best bet for cashing out is to do a minute of research on your collection, write up a quick "l@@k r@re" description, and sell on eBay or Craigslist.... Comment too long. I find everything earlier than Dreamcast has a retro feel because consoles were analog. Dreamcast sort of has it but it was only a hybrid style analog console which is why I think it is still allowed on this board
>be collector >know it's nearly impossible to get good deals on old games anymore >know it would be so easy to just get a flashcart or emulate >but the thrill of occasionally finding a good deal on old videogames is pretty much the only thing that gets me out of the house anymore >hell, I'm happy just to find anything below market value at this point Where did my life go so wrong.
>>3594620 It sounds like what gets you going is finding good deals, not necessarily video games. I suggest selling the gaming stuff you have, buy a flash cart if you want and then use the left over money to start collecting something not as popular as video games. That way you can still get the thrill of finding that special thing at a low cost, but without the competition.
>>3593929 I feel like TMA was much more refined than TDP in terms of level design and direction, and had superior pacing as well (barring casing the joint into the masks)
TDP also had the more horror/exploration focused, which although unique, weren't good stealth levels. I definitely think these levels determine if you like TDP vs TMA, since TMA pretty much only has one level like this, while TDP is peppered with them.
I'm tired of Castlevania. The fanbase jerking Rondo and Symphony and, even worse, the thousands of indie pixel crap Castlevania clones made me tired of the franchise. Most are just shameless ripoffs, and Metroidvanias became a plague.
>>3592483 Are you tired of Metroid as well? While I do agree with you that there are too many poor quality indie metroidvanias I still enjoy the genre as a whole. Also if it makes you feel any better (it probably wont) SOTN and Rondo are not my favorite.
Good day everyone! I once posted here about finding a game that would help my mother with her memory problem, some of you might remember me. You were all very kind that day and since then I browsed here from time to time.
Now a friend of mine would like to get back to gaming something, and would like to find back the title of a game he never played but was stuck in his memory: in the game, apparently Japanese from what he says, the one thing he remembers is an enigma where you were supposed to do something with a statue (either putting gems but this is my own biased understanding,... >>3590793 can you tell something more about the rest of the game anon? Anything related to graphic, gameplay, some other elements? I remember this kind of scene too, but I'm not sure if it was anything in Silent Hill 3 or 1 or I'm being completely wrong.
