ITT: We post games that may have been popular, but never had much of a legacy. This definitely comes to mind. To this day, I still think this game is better known for all the clones it spawned rather than any significant sequels it may have had.
NES consoles should be reissued by Nintendo, And the top 50 NES games of all time. Heaps of the best vintage toys are always being made new (transformers, rubicks cubes, monopoly etc) No pessimists allowed in this thread. Anything is possible
>>2886090 IF Nintendo did any sort of reissue with the NES you can sure as bet they'd go the route all the other companies went with their reissues and make a plug and play all in one. Not that, that's bad, but don't expect it to play all your NES games.
What does /vr/ consider objectively some of the very worst retro games?
This has been covered by every two-bit hack on Youtube countless times but most of the time they just suck at the game or take the ideas that were innovative at the time out of context or focus too much on shitty cashgrab licensed games (*cough* *cough* AVGN).
>pic only sort of related.. the whole "ET caused the American Video Games Crash" is a fucking meme, it's not even THAT bad by Atari VCS standards...
I've more or less put together of a library of all the PS1 games I've ever wanted, so now I'm looking into the more obscure titles / hidden gems for the platform. Can /vr/ pitch any recommendations? I'm into games from most every genre, so there aren't any restrictions.
To save some time, let me note that I already have anything that would be considered essential, like the Final Fantasy Titles, Spyro, Tomb Raider, etc. Again, just looking for OBSCURE games that people normally overlook.
Japanese imports are welcome since my console is modded.... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2885959 Did you do it because PS1 is your favorite console? I'm doing exactly the same thing with PS3. Been playing since NES and played all the worthwhile games on pretty much every console and PS3 is my favorite of them all. I don't even know why exactly I just like it a lot. I would recommend the From Software games on PS1. King's Field and Armored Core series.
Basically never, not the way you're thinking anyway. The level files and engine that leaked earlier this year were a fucking mess, not near anything worth playing. There's a guy working on a playable reinterpretation of it in an all-new modern engine that looks fantastic. You can check out the difference in this video
Have any of you pushed past the first level of this clusterfuck of a game? I just cant do it. It is so slow and monotonous. In fact, at one point I got stuck between two platforms with literally no way to get out.
As a child, Secret of Evermore was my favorite video game. I also liked Secret of Mana, but not as much.
I'd like to make a (game that aims to be a) spiritual successor to Secret of Evermore. However, I know it wasn't perfect. In particular, SoE's lack of two-player capabilities is a significant enough flaw that's been rectified by at least one ROM hack that I know of.
So my questions to you are as follows:
1. What do you feel like SoE did better than SoM? 2. What did SoM do better than SoE? 3. What flaws did they both have? 4.... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2885650 I agree about the atmosphere of SoE being more interesting. I also liked the whole "boy and his dog" thing. Thank you for all the feedback. >>2885651 Yeah, I played through it with the balance patch a few months ago. Made the game much more enjoyable, in my opinion.
Hello /vr/, another thread about autism and the aspect ratio of NES and SNES. We all know that 8:7 is not the aspect ratio displayed by the real console. My problem or rather confusion is the following: In Retroarch I play with Aspect Ratio provided by the core, which is 4:3. Now if you tick or untick the option "crop overscan" the image will get stretched differently. Without overscan cropping it's 1280x960px and with it's 1196x896px.
Which one is the right one? Or is it a completely different one? This question goes for NES and SNES.
not him but - the game actually looked better, don't know why, AoE2 always looked more muddy to me, the graphics was more crisp, realistic, the atmosphere was better - better sounds - battles happened more fast, the smaller unit cap made micro more important instead of sending 100 eagles in the enemy base and letting them to have fun, but I agree that the unit cap in AoE1 was a little to small
It's not rare it's a currently manufactured product. It requires a very fast processor so yes the tech being used really is appreciable. There's really no competition though so they can charge whatever they want, which is probably a matter of setting the price at a point where their production all gets bought up. The fact that they have "budget" models like xrgb mini tells you it's not just BS markup though.
