New to shmups 30-40 coins per playtrough kind of new.
What is your opinion on them? Priorities on the battlefield, movement theory, strategies and skills that needs to be honed to succeed in shmups generally. Which is better for 1cc autism or asperger? Is savantims merely a preference in competitive gaming?
Which ones are good for people who werent genetically blessed with 0.01ms reaction time, panoramic vision and movement coordination that allow them to pluck their own eyelash and write their name on the back of the flea running on the back of the hamster... >>3568525 >Batsugun >last stage >orange background, orange bullets and orange enemies other stages also have shit like green tanks in trees and blue enemies in water. on top of the that your shot when maxed out makes things really hard to see.
>>3572619 I don't know if this is supposed to be a popular game but I had Stahlfeder for PS1, it seemed like a B tier shmup but you had a small palette of bullet color choices in the options. What other games do this? Why is it that a shitty low budget game has this over bigger games?
>>3572560 >Are NES, SNES, Genesis shmups worth trying or its all arcade. As I said in the last thread, it's highly recomended to play on consoles(ports or not) for noobs, as those force the beginners to git gud, but are not nearly as hard as the arcade 1cc. Start with Compile games such as MUSHA, also try indies from Astro Port such as Vulkaiser, they are not /vr/, but feel old school yet noob friendly, as they are pretty easy on medium difficulty. >Are self imposed... They feel relatively good actually. I personally dont like the shape, and never liked the shape of the original nes controller due to hand cramps. As compared to chink controllers, its a whole different level and you will be happy with it if you dont mind its shape.
>My only real question is how do the buttons feel? like on my dsi or vita. which is pretty fucking good. >Because most of these third-party imitation controllers that I've tried were absolute dogshit. same here, that's why i went for 8bitdo, no one complains about their build quality on the internet, it's usually the shape(like it's not nintendo's fault) or some shit.
Battery dead, the sad fate of very cartage game that used RAM memory. But this usually means you can't make new saves, your old saves should still be there. It's very straight forward to replace it, they use those little coin batteries and all you need to get is a Nintendo security screw driver. Open it up, prize the old battery out and put the new one in and you can just tape it up with some electrical tape no real need to re-solder. Then test it by making a save right at the start of the game, take the cart out and give it a rough shake then pop it back in and see... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>3571913 Because it's a more complex game, Chris Avellone worked on it and it shows a better action & consequence and elaborated quests. New Reno alone it's like a base design of Black Isle/Troika/Obsidian way to understand RPG's.
It's just a few autistic old guys who can't get over the fact that the console wars is long over and that you, actually, can enjoy both consoles. Specs on papers mean shit if you don't get good devs. Luckily both systems got good devs working on them.
I like the raceway ones the best (Luigi, Mario Royal raceways). They're the best ones for drifting madness, but Yoshi's Valley is fun as it can be frustrating. It's the most complex one. I also love Koopa Beach (dat shortcut), Kalimari Desert (dat tunnel shortcut), Toad's Turnpike (ultimate comfy).
Eh. It's okay but pretty bland, in appearance and content. The fork-in-the-road gimmick is basic and the other stuff is easy to avoid. The only shortcuts are totally broken and there's not a lot of space for drifting.
So I don't have enough to get a NES, SNES and Genesis separately. I know clones are a meme, but is pic related good? I recall the Retro Duo being surprisingly competent even if it had a handful of incompatibilities
You beat the easiest league on a difficulty level meant for children. Try getting used to the controls, abuse of the triggers, learn the tracks, etc. and then go for the expert. This game is really worth mastering.
There's also BS F-Zero 2 which is basically the same game with different tracks and vehicles.
I only have experience with RetroPie on a RasPi 2 Model B. It was decent, but I don't really like playing third generation stuff without scanlines. I tried bringing in some overlays and they were okay, but not as satisfying as filters imho, and I don't think the Pi has enough power to do those.
I always found the SMAS/SMA4 version to be more superior because it was better for the eyes to look at. I'm not saying that the original was bad, it was just a bit too bright. Take for example the grassland background. It's just one huge almost white spot on your screen. SMAS/SMA4 fixed that by making the game more colorful overall.
Never played the Final Fantasy series, but I understand the only worthwhile ones are mainly in /vr/ territory. I'm stretching that to the year 2000 just for the 9th game since it was on PS1, and anybody who objects to discussing the later games for comparison's sake is an asshat.
Questions: 1) I hear 4, 6, 7, and 9 are the ones worth playing. Sounds like 5 was just bland, and while 8 tried new things it too was kind of bland. I've heard the first three games more or less just hammer out mechanics used in the later ones. Which of these should I start... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>3569672 >Retro gaming means consoles (including controllers if your retarded ass didn't realize)[...]and any other forms of video games on platforms launched in 1999 and earlier. When did rulefags become so retarded?
You know what, this isn't even rulefagging. It's '99fagging.
I let go of collecting and I couldn't be happier. I sold all my shit and went the flashcart route.
Just wasn't for me I guess. Too expensive. Too time consuming to find decent deals if you didn't wanna get butt fucked by ebay/reseller prices. Now I just play the games I like and not worry about that bullshit anymore.
3 is the worst of the PS1 games, and it sure as fuck isn't better than the PS2 games. The flight model is atrocious. They tried to make it more realistic which was a detriment to the gameplay. It also doesn't help that the game doesn't detect diagonal input at all, so using the analog stick feels like shit.
I don't care about the two discs or branching plot. The game just sucks to play.
I was with my cousin when she brought a demo disc with the Resident Evil 2 trial in it. I remenber being astounded by it's graphics because it was the first game with pre-rendered backgrounds that I played. Back then, I couldn't comprehend why this game had so much better graphics than the rest cause I didn't know what were prerendered backgrounds so I though I was playing a 3D game with an ultra realistic look. Also, RE 2 presented diferent walking animations depending on your health so seen this for the first time was something new and fresh. To see a city destroyed... Comment too long. >>3568018 Me and a friend rented it on a whim and spent a night playing it. I remember it being fairly fun but we didn't ever rent it again. The only RE I played all the way through was IV which I thought was okay but nothing to write home about.
You don't have the right to call yourself a megaman fan, unless: - You finished every official game (with possible aside from DOS ones) buster only - You finished MM&B with both characters and got all CDs - You finished 9 and 10 on superhero and with all characters as well as killed every boss in challenge mod
Were old Shmups designed to rip you of your money completely?
The level of difficulty is completely of the rails, most of the time patterns are absolutely unavoidable and then game does some shitty trick like pull your ship too close to enemy to do anything, make enemy attack you in absolutely unpredictable and unavoidable way just fucking ram you for example or stuck up odds against you like throw dozens of enemies you cant even shoot because they on the sides of the screen much less avoid or just mix small barely visible projectiles in the swarm of large bright bullets flying at you.
Sometimes when you slalom trough every bullet in a frantic pattern it feels awesome but most of the time patterns go crazy to the point where it is impossible not to die.
Are shmups the definition of artificial difficulty? Vid taken by fraps which accidentally slowed down the game enough for me to feel like Neo for a moment, I just speed up to more or less how it was in game.
>>3567948 Score resets after every continue, dont really matter anyway since I dumped 33 coins pressed select until I finished it. 1941 also took me something close to 30 coins, either I suck gargantual dick at shmups or they really are the spawn or hell-jew trying to rip you of every coin and then bargain for your soul.
>>3567964 Yeah I figured you could nuke the projectiles from screen with special attack, I guess too late. Still, pic related is a more... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Probably something often used by newbies and investors since it gives them comfort that they have a good condition sealed game. I doubt that many real veteran collectors who are in to game collecting for reasons other than muh investment give a shit about VGA ratings. I do find it amusing to see people care about getting a 90 or whatever.
