>>2874013 people don't buy me games because everyone knows I'm a video-gaming addict, the last video game related gift from my immediate family was a Playstation 1 back in 1999, I wish I was exaggerating
>>2873930 PJ64 1.7 if you can find it. Though 1964 if you want mouse and keyboard in GE/PD. But otherwise PJ64. N64 is going nowhere fast and given it pretty shoddy library it's sort of understandable.
Holy shit, best christmas ever. One of my favorite games ever just got a completed translation. Before with the unfinished translation, all the signs in the game were still Japanese, making a walkthrough required. But now all the graphical text has finally been finished. Go play this game guys, seriously. I highly recommend it

When I first played this game back in... I think it was 1999, on emulator?... the entire joke was lost on me. I didn't even think "haw the dumb goat is making the guy think she's a sexy babe". I just thought she was sharing a picture of Princess Toadstool.
So I just watched "Get Lamp" and now I want to try a text adventure, where do I start? I played Zork on a whim once and enjoyed it till I got stuck in what I think was hell, should I just go back and give Zork a second try or is there a better starting point?
Kwirk is an underrated game for sure. It has a catchy soundtrack and the puzzles generally have the right amount of challenge... until the last stages on Level 3 which are brutal. I don't think I got to around 3-5 before I just couldn't solve them anymore. I'd be interested in trying the 2 player mode, but goddamn what are the chances I'll ever meet someone else with a game boy, link cable, and fucking Kwirk?

This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!
>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok. >Produce OC! Get... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
My new years resolution is to best my retro game backlog and that includes the original 2 Fallout games along with Tactics. We had a similar thread recently but I didn't write down all I needed prior to it being deleted from the archive.
For ultra builds, the best trait is and always will be Gifted. Can play without it, but it's just too good. That's the first presumption. Other good traits include Kamikaze, Good Natured, Small Frame and Fast Shot (for burst-oriented characters). As for stats, ST, EN and CH are relatively the least important (EN is not efficient at actual survivability for certain reasons, low ST problems can be easily alleviated with companions and/or car, and CH is a strictly flavor stat for some bonus interactions that aren't very consequential. It also determines your number... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
The main differences in F:T character building are as follows: >CH actually does something, and your main character should have 6-8 CH for a smooth playthrough. High CH characters get to hire much better allies in the Brotherhood headquarters much earlier in the game, which makes up for the "lost" SPECIAL points on your main char greatly. CH8 gives access to a really good perk, too. Only dump CH if you plan on solo play. >EN now determines the amount of drugs you can take before you're saturated with them... Comment too long. Also, Kamikaze trait has been changed in F:T, but it's even better and more straightforward in its implementation, so it's an even more apparent choice.
Note that F:T has also been designed with real time fighting in mind, and turn-based mode has been put in later. Whether you care about this info is up to you, but in general, F:T oddly enough works better in real time.
I have an old FFVII disk. I want to fucking play it. I got to Bugenhagen, but the game freezes up in the middle of his speech every time. I tried cleaning it with water and toilet paper, but that did nothing. I tried resetting the PS2 a bunch of times; nothing. I don't want to buy a new disk because even used copies are like 30 dollars. I'm prepared to try anything to fix this, since the alternative is throwing it out. Tell me the arcane secrets of disk cleaning, /vr/. You're my only hope.
>>2872715 You can pick up that game for 9.99 at any retro game store or half price books.
Also use a lighter. Hold it far away from the scratch you want fixed and slowly warm it up until the plastic melts ever so slightly and becomes uniform. Don't do this if you're retarded and don't understand heat though, you'll warp the disc and you're fucked.
