Merry Christmas bros. Lets get this thread going. Post and discuss all Christmas games here. Doesnt necessarily have to be 100% Christmas themed. Gex 3 is an example with a Christmas level yet not completely centered around Christmas/winter. Grab your cocoa, get comfy and reminisce about those retro Christmas times.
Why is there so much information about Sega Saturn emulation?
SSF works great for 99% of games but people are constantly saying that saturn emulation is shit, is it just because they are mad that they bought the console thinking that it wasn't possible to emulate?
>>2872363 I wonder this same thing for the Nintendo 64. In my experience, with a Dell Inspiron from 2008, I'm able to emulate the majority of games without a hitch. Sometimes it crashes, and slows down, but it's very easy to see past that when you have tons of games to play. I've been able to emulate approximately fifty games for n64 nearly perfectly, since 2006. PJ 64 1.7 has worked fine. People are just too stupid to adjust plug ins. Or a variable framerate is too much for them. In which case they shouldn't... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2872289 It's widely regarded as a classic and the best game in the Serpent Riders games. Why wouldn't anyone. /vr/ used to have small generals about Hexen for a while. Better question would be if anyone remembers Hexen 2 as it's never brought up.
>>2872289 I was hosting it coop on Z& for like a week last week and noone joined. So no, nobody remembers it. >>2872317 I'd like to host Hexen 2, but it doesn't want to work for whatever reason. Maybe I'll try again
>>2872216 Yes. Mainly because N64 emulation is still shitty enough for it to feel like a worthwhile purchase. I got a V2 because the few extra games supported by the V3 aren't worth the extra cost to me personally.
>>2872054 Play vs. a shit ton. No other way to get the 'eye'. Keeping playing until you can cream the computer even on Super Hard. The SNES in hindsight has really bad AI, but it doesn't seem like that until you're good enough.
>>2872094 You and your GF should play The New Tetris, the only Tetris variation worth a damn (I don't count TA as a Tetris game because they don't share anything in common besides being puzzel games). It may help level the playing field. The added mechanic is trying to create perfect squares with 4 tetraminos, bonus points if they are all the same piece.
>>2871927 2 sucked compared to the first one. Without the sim aspect it's basically any other platformer out there.
The sim tied to the combat sequence is what made act raiser so badass in the first place. Made you feel like you were actually defending your subjects since you always had to go stomp the ass of whatever monster that eventually was discovered through building the city.
I would probably say Crystal for me as well. I've probably played through the game at least half a dozen times.
I absolutely loved Mario Tennis too, but the story mode was incredibly easy. I didn't drop a set in singles the first time I played though the game even though I didn't know the rules of tennis very well.
I'm thinking about picking up a Saturn but I was a PS1 kid. I only had 1 neighbor with a Saturn and I remember it being pretty impressive.
Anyways, I know next to nothing about the console itself. I plan on playing on an HD TV, if I don't mind how my PS1 games look on my TV, will I find Saturn games to look terrible? Especially worried about the 2D games looking bad because the Saturn seems to have a lot of good 2D games.
Second, I plan on getting some Japanese imports because there was only a handful of games that came Stateside. Is the Saturn region-free?
Third,... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
No, you'll need a 4-in1 Action Replay. It fits into the cartridge slot in the back. It'll bypass region lock, give you cheats, act as a RAM expansion for games like X-Men vs Street Fighter and give you a lot more room for save data
>what's the difference between model 1 and model 2?
Pretty much just cosmetic.
Enjoy the Saturn bro. It's got a great (albeit expensive) library!
>>2871791 If you don't mind the way PS1 looks on your TV then Saturn won't bother you either. I couldn't stand it without an upscaler personally, but you're not me.
Saturn isn't region free but apparently quite easy to mod to play imports. I'm sure someone will post links soon. That's the better way to go anyways since the consoles are fairly cheap, but you'll be paying an arm and a leg for any game that's not shit.
Gongrats, you're in for a treat. Saturn has... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2871797 Thanks, I'll be sure to get the Action Replay. Any good site for cheats as well?
>>2871803 I've been watching a lot of Youtube videos, most of the games look pretty fun. I'm mostly a fan of platformers but I also like a good arcade style game (like arcade racers, fighters, and shooters).
I'm not too excited about the prices, but I guess that's what makes collecting so exciting.
Why did the Rareware developers decide to make the unarmed striking animation in Goldeneye a karate chop? This is something I've always wondered. Why not a regular punch, like in Perfect Dark and TWiNE? Is it a reference to one of the films?
Feel free to ask questions about extremely minute things in games here.
Another thing I've always wondered is why, after acquiring it, you instead use the sniper rifle's stock to attack enemies when unarmed. It's such a strange detail. Why the sniper rifle out of all guns?
Man, if only I could meet the developers. I'd have to so many autistic questions to ask them about this and Perfect Dark.
>>2871352 It doesn't look like anything the saturn couldn't do, but the whole III series flopped so I'm guessing that's why it wasn't ported asap. 3S didn't blow up until after the daigo video, and thats when the ps2\xbox port came to the west
