They released it before it was done. If you play the GBC version, you can see where they were going with it.
That said, the combat is repetitive, the dialogue pretty meh, the scenario cookie cutter, and the level curve... well, you'd actually do better to go through most of the game totally ignoring the free level ups, then going back and collecting them all if you're going for max magic mastery. Not that you need it. Water and Rock and Stick will beat the entire game.

Alright guys, any tips for an early GT virgin like me? Just got this game today and can't quite get used to the driving physics. I'm normally used to GT4, and as far as I'm aware they tweaked up the physics in that one a bit.
Keep practicing on tracks and hopefully get a feel for the game. One of my favourites is the one with the mini forest in the middle. If you love the game you won't find dedicating time to understand the physics. Also I'm not sure if 1 and 2 have tutorials as the earliest one I've played was 3. If not, remember that every car functions differently when reacting to breaks, turning etc. Also the most basic advice I can give you, if say you were making a right turn remember to be on the left side of the track and when turning you want to be turning turning towards... >>3560798 Part of the Arcade Culture. If your game was not good, it could not be featured in an arcade because it would not attract revenue. Thus, many developer would put much time and effort into the quality of their arcade game, so as to make sure that the game will stay popular for years.
DESU, it's not a good game. I mean, the weapons suck, and upgrading it changes patterns. Also, your bullets stopped dead when it hits a wall, and there's narrow corridors, meaning you have little chance to kill anything or survive.
>>3560871 Good point. I realize I failed to mention that I bought it for my brother, who has an interest in making video games. With that in mind, he might know more about it. Bad as an investment, maybe not so bad as a Christmas gift.
If you're like me, this image will remind you of money well? spent.
Do you remember all the crazy shit that went along with it? I remember a magazine i used to read (this is the 90s, no internet) comparing screenshots from Voodoo cards to PowerVR (i had one of those as well) and other cards as well.
Like the image quality was different and not just the performance? Was that a meme?
I think the most I paid for a card was like $200 for a Diamond Monster 4mb Voodoo. It was worth it at the time.

Jumping Flash is pretty well known, and was a 1st party Sony title (although the developers who did it were Exact, who worked on Sharp X68000 games before that, Geograph Seal is basically a proto-Jumping Flash).
Play the sequel as well, Jumping Flash 2: Big trouble in little muu, it's pretty great.
>>3559927 What a boring attitude. Why not get rid of music, sound, color, and character designs too? Let's have a fighting game where stick figures fight on a flat line with zero sound effects. All that stuff is useless anyway.
At the time I played it I thought seriously/literally/for real it was the worst game I ever played. I wouldn't mind giving it another try now though. I might think differently. I was younger then used to simple first person shooters and adventure games.
>>3559660 Remapping controls in MDK to WASD/anything you like is not a big deal, it is other things that bug me. Sure, it has good graphics and distinctive art style, the gameplay is fun, but people seem to treat it like best game ever and i cannot say why.
>>3559657 Although, I have to admit, I have a general gripe against RPGs. I also don't like Final Fantasy, for example. I gave it a chance with FFVII and couldn't finish it. I really dislike turn based combat, I guess.
I did that on my own. I also lured a couple dudes into some room in the tanker/diving area or whatever it was called and locked them in without killing them. And I immediately figured out that not shooting the monks makes them kickass allies.
Discovering Amiga. I have to say, setting up the emulator to work was a complete chore and has to be the most convoluted process I've ever went through, but I think I managed to get it to work. Post games with good gameplay.
Alright /vr/, which retro console has the best and widest selection of arcade games and pinball? A new arcade just opened near me with 40+ cabs and 30+ pinball tables and it's absolutely incredible. I want to start buying some games to play at home and to practice for the tourneys they're starting up. I know I could emulate, but I have the money so fuck it. Let me know what you think /vr/.
I don't really see a Halloween specific thread up. What are you guys playing for October? Pic related for me. I'm loving it, but my only gripes are the camera and its controls AND I collected a Chalice in The Sleeping Village, but it doesn't have a check mark next to the Chalice Icon on the map, so it's as if I didn't collect one. Could this be a bug? I AM playing on a PS2.
3ds emulation is good, but it doesn't do anything past 16 bit. you can inject roms into the existing virtual console emulators, which covers nes, snes, gb/c, game gear, gba, and tg16. there's also homebrew emulators of the above, as well as genesis and more. plus you can pirate the awesome 3d ports from nintendo and sega. to get it all up and running you need to hack the console to run custom firmware, check out the homebrew general on /vg/. if your firmware is recent then you're fucked.
>>3558384 The updated 3DS is quite good for emulation (new 3DS) and the regular one is okay.
This is probably the best place to get started for 3d shacking (sorry for reddit) https://www.reddit.com/r/3dshacks/comments/56ymak/3dshacking_qa_general_a_sticky_situation_edition/
>>3558474 Is right. PSX is close to playable but isn't there yet and I don't think it will get there. Otherwise, SNES, Gen, GBA, and most things prior run great. It can also do Neo... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
