>>2943727 I do. It just feels more concise, Super Star is fun but I was never a big fan of all the segmented bits, I like it better as one cohesive whole. I don't know why you named the GBA remake instead of Adventure but I do think the remake is better anyway, as amazing as Adventure was for its hardware.
ITT: we talk about retro games that were heart pounding and intense, games that kept you on your toes and challenged your skills. Pic related, the very last part of the turbo tunnel requires absolute concentration to beat it and I've manged to get past it only a few times.
>>2943196 Quake 3 is a wonderful online shooter with no major flaws. it was designed for multiplayer and is the only 90's decently populated online shooter i care about (via quake live) >>2943217 they already confirmed they will be releasing a map editor for all platforms with the possibility of creating your own modes, adding game logic to entities, and playing the maps in multiplayer.
Why are you Americans so keen on knowing which thing in whatever media is the "undisputed" worst? Like all articles from trash sites always begin with
>"the worst X you have ever seen" or >"top ten worst X ever".
Does something being globally recognized as THE worst to be relevant? And what when you finally find it? What will you discuss? How it's bad and how it was never meant to be that ungodly bad? We know that already. Do you enjoy mindlessly bashing a game... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2942841 I don't think the cost of the games for a retro system should be a deciding factor in its quality, since it's so easy (and in my opinion, ethical) to pirate retro games and play them on the original hardware.
My vote right now would have to be for the Dreamcast, but Saturn has a lot of games I'm interested in that I haven't played yet, so maybe my vote will eventually switch to the Saturn.
I was thinking over how the dialogue from Metal Gear Solid is a lot more memorable than the later games. Jeremy Blaustein worked on the localization of the game. From what I've heard, his dialogue is not 100% pure translations of the Japanese. Has anyone actually gone and compared the dialogue from the original Japanese game to what ended up in the English version of the game?
Especially curious about the most famous lines, like the one above.
Pretty much, although I recall him saying in an interview that he regretted the can love bloom in the battlefield line. He also took some unnecessary liberties, like giving Mei Ling an accent when she's supposed to have grown up in America. If you want to check out a more literal translation without knowing japanese, play Twin Snakes.
I recently bought pic related, primarily so that I could sit back on my couch and play the original 2 DOOM games on my Ps3. I have played DOOM before, and although the BFG edition controls like a dream and seems to be largely untouched, It sounds like absolute ass. The guns sound like they are underwater, the enemies are almost silent (including Imps and fireballs), and music is negligible. It is like watching The Simpsons after it has been dubbed over by french voice actors. Anyone else have this issue? Can it be fixed?
"YU-NO: The Girl who Chants Love at the Edge of the World" is game for the PC-98 from 1996 that never came outside of Japan. It's a classic that finally got translated in English in 2011.
It's a Sci-Fi time travel/parallel dimensions related plot and is the first Visual Novel/Graphical Adventure game that uses a divergence map system (flowchart system,) which, at times, can have mature content with some amount of fan-service. But that's only half of what the game offers. It's almost fully voiced and the protagonist's is voiced by the... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I downloaded this about a year ago after seeing it recommended somewhere - /jp/, maybe? - but never got around to it. I know nothing of it so I'd qualify for being able to do a blind playthrough, but I have no experience Let's Playing so I think I'd probably find some difficulties.
However, now that it's been mentioned, I can properly add this to my backlog. Thanks for that.
