Ignore this faggot. He's just posting high cost carts. They are good games but aim for some of the better ones like Mega Man X, Yoshi's Island,Donkey Kong Country, F-Zero, Super Metroid, and Gradius III. There are plenty of others, but those are all fantastic games that won't set you back by much.

Are you playing Grand Edition? What country did you pick?
>>
>>3540134
I played the original back in the day, so yeah, now started on the Grand Edition. Gonna go through most countries I think, so I went with the default which is Almekia. Don't really care much for it, but it's a good time I guess. Just defeated the Empire as my first enemy and Lance got coronated and promoted into a new class.

I fear I might have taken a bit too much time prepping and getting the downlow of the game that I gave Norgard and batshit clown's kingdom too much of a space to spread. On...

NTSC SNES has those nasty X and Y buttons and dull colors, but at least the cable is long.

This thread is for discussion of vertical and horizontal shooting games.

I was just playing Dragon Breed from Irem. This is a seriously cool game. Your hitbox is the rider, and you can move the dragon's body to attack and defend. You can also dismount on platforms and move the rider around to attack and pick up items.

Just got into Cybattler recently. Really cool game if you're a Gundam fan because it basically is Gundam without the license.

And while the beam guns are still really useful, it's way too satisfying to not try and hack down every enemy with the beam saber.

Also, as a huge tip for Dragon Breed: Always try to keep the yellow powerup for as long as you possibly can. If you tap up then down with precise timing the dragon will wrap its body around the rider making you practically invincible for one full second!

I tried getting into this game several times, the last one before a couple of days ago.

I don't understand what's the big deal about this game. It's average at BEST.

Level design is incredibly subpar. For the most parts, the layouts are on the level of shitty Duke Nukem 3D 1996 usermap, everything is undertailed and empty, and there isn't even a single sector effect or anything to spice things up.
Hell, they managed to make the Dark Forces engine look worse 2 YEARS after DF. Let's also not forget that this came out during 1997, Quake...

This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!

>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok.

Not OP but Dedede's design was pretty different in 64. His beak and eyes had a different shape to them, and he lacked the mittens and yellow under shirt.

Also, I feel like his character gave off a bit of a different vibe in that game. Less of a comic relief bad guy who does good sometimes, and more of a grouchy friend with a heart of gold.

MGS = wide distribution on all the current trend consoles.

CPS3 = narrow distribution. CPS3 boards are kind of rare, especially in the west.

Besides MGS runs on flamboyant fanboyism alone while SF is actually a game with substance and depth. These two games couldn't be more different.

I have the Famicom version with av out. It's the best you can get without resorting to modded or canabalized consoles
>>
>>3538432

No one really does it anymore but an RGB modded Toploader is great.

Barring that (really expensive), if you want something reliable just go buy a Blinking Light Win from arcadeworks and install it in a toaster.

You'll still only get mono sound, but I find that the blinking light win makes it work 100% of the time.
>>
>>3538531
No. The best without modded would be a TwinFamicom.

The Dumpster on the left, why did anybody in the right mind (I doubt a zombie would care to throw out a bag of garbage) throw a bag UNDER the main metal/steel lid which probably weight a fucking bit instead of just using the provided plastic door on it?. The bag is stuck between that metal lid and the rest of the garbage thing.

Never understood that hole below his chair. Sort of triggering just to think if he slid the chair by even an inch
>>

If you go to the room below his, and do a super jump, you will bump him from below and he will do a funny animation.

Id love to do that but sadly none of favorites are retro so I must abstain
