The PSP remake of the first game (Powered Up) is a great starting point. From there just play in release order. The first through fourth GB games can arguably be skipped but the fifth is a must play and is often considered one of the best games in the series.
Depending on your definition of "like Zelda", you might try Final Fantasy Adventure (aka Seiken Densetsu), Bomberman Quest, or Kaeru no Tame Kane ha Naru (the engine of which was used for Link's Awakening).
I like it when there are extra modes that enhance the difficulty, forcing you to use more of the techniques and tactics you learned, or that require the equipment or abilities you carry over to finish.
So the rules in the sticky on this board say Dreamcast discussion is allowed. But I heard on another thread that any threads made about the DC get shitposted in and deleted. What's up with that /vr/? Why are you guys so against a legit retro console?
I bought a couple of these to make my Super Famicom controller feel like new again. When I press the rubber in, it will stay in kinda like bubble wrap. When in game the d-pad will stick, probably because of the constant conductive pad contact to the board. Any ideas on how I can fix my issue without buying more, /vr/?
>>3514024 i also have a Super Famicom and just replaced the rubber pads some months ago, it worked perfectly after wards, have you checked that the Dpad rubber pad isnt bacwards? clean the actual Dpad with alcohol and also the inside of the controller.
I beat King Hippo only with help from reading tips online, but I can't even get a single punch on this asshole. Then he does his teleportation trick and it's over for me. The jewel on his turban lights up before he punches so I can dodge some, but I can't land a single hit.
>>3513725 You have to find the hidden Toilet Disguise. It's a hidden item (yes, there are hidden items that mostly give bonuses -- they're very well hidden, though, and a lot of people don't even know that they exist). Once you find it, Little Mac's head and torso are covered up with a toilet.
If you fight Great Tiger while wearing the Toilet Suit, he becomes frantically terrified at the sight of the toilet and thinks Little Mac is a toilet witch. He becomes unable to fight, screaming and shaking in... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
So, a few days ago, we discussed some possibilities of allowing 6th gen into the board.
However, many people didn't want it, and those who accepted it to any degree would only accept the GBA. So we came up with a compromise idea: /v2k/, a board to discuss games made during the 6th generation that are too new for /vr/, but too old for /v/ teens to be interested in. I think this is a pretty good idea.
What year range should /v2k/ cover if it's created? http://www.strawpoll.me/11249233/
hello to all, i know that many here will indicate to me that I can possibly buy one aftermarket Nintendo 64 Controller already in a USB option. However, my question here is the possibility to convert an existing working nintendo 64 controller that can work both with the original console and also as a USB controller to be used together with the Pi. Does anyone if is possible to have some kind of mod that can be made to modify the original controller to be used with a USB connected on a Pi? It's possible without messing inside the controller, just messing with the cable? Thanks a lot guys!
>Tfw you realize the dead HEV bodies on Xen were an original, early expedition from the Lambda Complex that was organized to research and document alien life >The quote "The administrator is very concerned that we get a conclusive analysis of today's sample. I gather they went to some length to get it." near the start of the game is a hint to this
So my college radio station's studio is in the basement of some donut shop, and they have an abandoned Street Fighter II cabinet in there. I don't know much about refurbishing or building cabinets, so is there any chance that with some time, money, and dedication I could get it working as a MAME cab?
On a phone so I can't go into detail, but nothing inside is going to be plug and play except the JAMMA controls. The power supply will just be trash but you could probably get some cash for the Street Fighter board. The display (if not broken) will not have a standard adapter for VGA or RF and there will need to be some sort of converter.
It wasn't. The controls worked exactly as they should, and the rest of the game was generally competent in its design. Problem is nothing stands out about it either. If I ever think of a quintessentially average, middle-of-the-road, grade 'C' title, it's Tonic Trouble

Will the Famicom Disk System games start to fail? I was wondering about them since most of them have no protective shutter, and as I understand it floppies are pretty prone to failure over the course of decades compared to say a CD.
Yes. All magnetic media has a lifespan on the order of decades. I don't think the disks missing a shutter is the primary reason for them failing. A disk in the storage case will also fail eventually. Using the disk in a poorly-calibrated disk drive may also damage it.
The bigger problem with the disk system might be failures of the disk drive itself. Those drive units are pretty fragile and contain some rubber belts in the motor assembly which have a notoriously high failure rate. The read head is also tricky to align correctly.
Combine these problems and... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
