>>2826594 Mostly it's large roster. It was a "dream match" year which meant it didn't follow the storylines of the earlier games and was more of a catch all of most of the characters all thrown together. There are a lot of characters and many of them have alternate control schemes with other moves which are versions from earlier games.
Also many characters were really powerful that year and in '99 a lot of them got nerfed.
>>2826598 More balanced than what? OG 98 isn't very well balanced, 98UM is Krauser n' friends. I don't think it was until 98UMFE that we got a fairly balanced game? I might be wrong.
I personally think that FE is one of the best fighters ever made (my favourite ever being VF2, or Final Showdown).
In all the 98 games The roster was great and huge Beautiful looking backgrounds and character design Fast and tight gameplay Extra mode and Advanced mode worked well (in UM onwards at least),... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>2826568 >It was my first final fantasy and it was amazing. I'm so happy for you.
It's my favorite, IX is my second favorite, but I guess you could go anywhere for a list of favorites.
Play any of 1-5 you find interesting (you'll hit more than you'll miss) 7,8,9 are good though 8 tends to be seen as a black sheep, beyond is not only not retro but becomes more controversial, it's up to you to continue but it starts to drop off after X.
>>2826527 Man, finished this game just a few days ago. Great game, catchy music, nice gameplay, interesting plot, what an old gem.
The vs. mode is nice too but my friend would always pick Prometheus and that asshole, while having low mobility can sustain a lot of damage while dealing massive damage and i just don't know how to handle him.
That said, i also think Chrono Trigger is the best SNES game, i love retro games and i never played anything that i could consider better than CT.
I'm here to ask and to see if anyone here has a "Top 3" Turn-based RPG games. I have completed majority of the NES/SNES/PS1 Final Fantasy Series, Super Mario RPG, Lost Odyssey, and Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana.
Not a lot, but I would like to know if there are more games similar to these I listed. I am 100% about trying anything out, as the JRPG/RPG is not as complicated or hard anymore. (Grant it I'm 30, been playing since I was a kid haha).
