I just finished Dino Crisis 1 for the first time, and I found it to be pretty obnoxious. I like RE 1-3, but the DDS keys and stupid crane pipe puzzles made little sense to me. It also seemed like there was almost no point to the guns. Maybe it's because I was an RE vet first, but 90% of the time it was a better idea to just run past the dinosaurs and follow through on all the stupid fetch quests and doubling back for keys and batteries.
Is the second game any better? I'm kinda disappointed; I think over hype for this game killed it for me.
>It also seemed like there was almost no point to the guns.
Guns in DC were meant to stun dinosaurs. Made it way more survival-y since you couldn't just shotgun your way through a hallway and come back later to waltz through.
Yeah, it's just that if you were good enough at running and juking, you didn't really even need to stun dinos. I only played it on Normal though, so I could imagine it being a necessity on Hard. The variety of dinos was also sorely lacking. Is Dino Crisis 2 still very puzzle/fetching oriented? Kinda bored me.
I think that's one thing old survival horror games did poorly, the whole ammo count thing. In RE, I could shoot every single enemy in the game and even miss a few shots and still be fine all the way through. Dino Crisis had ammo be much more scarce and respawns being frequently triggered to the point where the only time you want to kill something is when it's in such a tight area that it can't be avoided, and even then it needs to be a high traffic area you'll be traveling through time and time again.
I'd almost rather Silent Hill's melee options in the genre, although when that's a choice I tend to use it exclusively on everything that I can reliably defeat with it.
Dino Crisis 2 is fucking amazing. It's not the hardest but it's just so action-y I remember enjoying it a lot.
Which, to be fair was when it came out so memory may be dong me a disservice.
both games are very different but also very good
But holy shit was DC2 just off the rails fun. I mean I love DC1, I do but 2. Just goddamn man that came was cuhrazy before cuhrazy was a thing.
I assume this would be the right place to complain about this.
Just finished playing Dino Stalker with the Guncon II, it was horrible. I mean, I'm glad I played it just to have an opinion, but I didn't think it would be that bad. I enjoyed Resident Evil - Dead Aim for it's silliness, but Dino Stalker was terrible.

you an' me are nigs
