New thread, old one at bump limit
Old thread: >>1731214
Both my Windows and Linux rice.
Really new to Linux (I'm only a few days in) and I have to say I definitely prefer it to Windows for everyday activity.
One day I'll get it.
One day I shall rice correctly.
Just not today.
Can't wait to go home and eat some homemade meals again.
Looks nice, reminds me of Hal's desktops.
RIP my Asian girl and K-pop wallpaper folder.
I always like Yosemite desktops. It just looks so nice. I might dual boot it or something.
I have a foobar skin I like using, I just have to edit it some more to make it perfect. For now I am settling on slim_foo because it works well and doesn't look terrible.
>>1736073 eh, wallpaper has a nice art style, kinda uninspired
>>1736055 v clean nice to look at, not really breaking any new ground here tho. wallpaper seems interesting!!!
>>1736036 people say windows ricing is hacky but i found linux to feel much more hacky and less complete than a hacked up windows system. whenever i used linux it feels like a cheap knockoff tbh.
>>1736022 how can you not get bored of the same monochrome theme???

>>1735984 your default folders are ugly fix em
>>1735983 the white theme you did a while ago was better, at least you aren't using skintones for background anymore though
>>1735975 so boring!!! use some pictures or something its like I'm looking at something someone made in photoshop in 25 minutes
>>1735974 am i being hacked??
>>1735964 p generic, resize your screen fetch
i wanted xsnow but it doesn't work on cinnamon
btw any ideas how to fix it?
y u so rude ;-;
There, I opened a picture just for you.
dark blue in taskbar and screenfetch is too dark for my tastes. otherwise ok.
lack of mouth is disturbing
too dark and too minimal for my tastes
minimal i like.
if you want to use black windows classic look for pastel&extreme. tho windows classic in black got way too many problems to be actually usable, i tried some time ago and gave up.
looks ok, but idk if i like it or not.
if you want to tile with gaps you can grab some script.
ok, not much rice shown tho
not a fan of colors, way too dark for me. i like your browser tho.
looks ok. what's with this arch icon left to /wg/?
good luck. if you arent happy with it not gonna rate either.
nothing innovative, but not bad looking either. browser is nice. not really a fan of bblean and fully black desktops.
qt wallpaper. good looking player.
continuing from >>1736308
also, my laptop.
havent managed to get it working on xfce either, as it draws on root window.
black but i like it. maybe a little bit too black.
ok, except icons. titlebars in this vs seems to be kind of not aligned properly.
i made a lazy fork of noha's tinycss that adds color and shit, really just made it for preference but some other people might like it i guess
Just started messing around with themes today, i think I did a good job : ^ )
I made a gif but it ended up being too big.
But you can see it here:
>eh, wallpaper has a nice art style, kinda uninspired
Yeah my win8.1 desktops are pretty default looking and I haven't really bothered with any visual style editing. I haven't seen any new desktops that really have a "wow" factor, or I've just been on /w/ for so long that I have desensitized myself to good rice. idk.
>qt wallpaper. good looking player.
thanks even though I didn't make either of them.
here you go-- please take care of it and try not to ruin it.
Hmm...it looks familiar. Did you try to make a "brown" theme sometime during the summer?
As for your desktop. Are you running linux? Because I've never seen workspaces like that in bblean before.
>10/10, really comfy.
As far as 8.1 goes, you could try using Aero Glass either manually use API hooks to apply Aero Glass to the taskbar or use a program that does that anyways like Classic Shell.
It's too bad that there isn't an 8.1/8.1.1 version of Style Builder floating around the internet like there is for 7 (Apart from purchasing it).
It's rainmeter, you can find instructions on nanami-tan.info, go to the "Workspaces" section.
I wouldn't say all, but most are. I usually just make small changes. For instance, in the brown and purple desktops, I used Prime VS as a base and just made the borders so that they'd be consistent on all windows, but in some of my more recent ones I've used unedited Bello VS. I really like transparency because how versatile it is, so I try to fix borders and buttons to my liking.
any idea on how to get rid of the icons on the window list of the panel? or any alternatives? currently using mate.
>tfw darker than soul
Oh well, at least it looks not shit?
i wonder about that. i'm trying it out right now. i think you can probably get something working.
(but i miss my startscreen clusterfuck already.)
first bblean here, how do i actually integrate rainmeter into bblean? am i even supposed to?
also can someone give me a good bbleanbar, for reference? tips in general would be appreciated.
im on w8.1 right now and have no complaints. There are plenty of VSes for it, and it's pretty easy to tweak shellstyle to further customize them. Check out neiio's work on dA. He has a lot of solid gets.
You can use rainmeter with bblean; or, at least used to be able to - I haven't seen a bblean + rainmeter setup for a long while. I don't recommend using rainmeter for interactive widgets, but there are some neat applications using rainmeter's transparent panels and bblean static overlays. Unless my memory deceives me, though, widgets don't stick around if you switch your workplace.
It looks pretty shit
Try ricing it first
You 'intergrate' rainmeter by using it. Times where it looks like rainmeter is in the bbleanbar it's just positioned next to it and the bar is shortened. Also, ignore people like >>1736676 who still think that rainmeter can never be useful as they are wrong.
i can't find any wallpaper that fits this
my first monitor is just firefox maximized
Nice file manager, I like it.
Hey, how are you?
>people say windows ricing is hacky but i found linux to feel much more hacky and less complete than a hacked up windows system. whenever i used linux it feels like a cheap knockoff tbh.
Very true. Linux feels empty and incomplete. Nice desktop too.
Funny how this called generic, yet everybody and their grandma are using the configs from this scrot. Heh.
I remember this one, looks nice!
How many layers do your wallpapers usually have? They look like a bunch of work and you switch them so frequently. What do you do with the ones you don't use anymore?
How do you remove the scrollbar from Hexchat? I've tried several editing the GTK theme to no avail and I've looked in the preferences and found nothing.
Simple and nice. Would use/10.
Dat bitmap font tho.
>How many layers do your wallpapers usually have?
My current one has 12 layers (that includes adjustment layers).
My first couple of wallpapers I made had very little layers. After a while I started using more and more layers, but nowadays I try not to use too many. It kind of depends what kind of wallpaper is in my mind.
> They look like a bunch of work and you switch them so frequently.
They are fun to make, so if I find good art for a wall, I'll try to make one for it.
>What do you do with the ones you don't use anymore?
Once I got a bunch of them, I put them in a zip and upload it on my DA. Sometimes I also go back to older walls if I feel like it or make changes to them.
By the way, your wallpaper has banding.
Here's my desktop theme. I was thinking of using cute ribbon details and gem icons to match my wallpaper.
I am open to comments and suggestions for my desktop.
Went back to a vector I used a long time ago. Still trying to find some nice colours for it.
Hello, nice fonts. Yes, you do remove scrollbars within the gtk theme itself. I am not fluent in C by any means, but I picked out the parts I think you should look for:
Couldn't come up with nice colours, so here is what I changed to instead. Not trying to spam though, so no more new pics from me.
I've come a long way, and this is the final version.
In my honest opinion, it sucks. You can do a better job on that bbLeanBar. Get a better font rendering. Drop the captions or just forget transparency. Browser UI elements are too big. The colors don't really match, and the lack of a constant post width on 4chan annoys the hell outta me.
If it's your first time ricing, at least you got this far, but remember there will always be room for improving.
First attempt in a quite a while.
It's better than the shit I had before.
Most of you guys have pretty awesome desktops I have to say.
I myself wouldn't want to spent that much time on my own, since even my current one has taken more time than I would have liked.
Really, by this point you'd think there was easier methods in goin about it. :/
Still didn´t find a Icon pack I liked so ill stay with the default ones.
>Using Windows Media Player
VLC can´t open the DVD so ... ill stick with the Media Player.
Well he could, but from experience you end up having all three VLC, MP and MPC because you always find something that doesn't play on a specific one.
Currently I have all three for a reason, but I can't remember anymore what that reason was.
Super lightweight so it loads fast. Supports loads of file types. Getting good codec packs (CCCP, KCP) can improve video quality. I'm pretty sure it's 'free as in free beer' software.
Mainly it's the load times that do it for me, VLC takes about 3 decades to boot up whereas MPC is open before I've thought about it.
wip. fairly new to ricing. working on a homepage and eventually a media player.
Yeah, that was my first time ricing.
Second time is the charm? I still have a homepage to get up, but I installed some more simplistic shit, and made the color scheme (hopefully) match more.
Shit on if you can.
Thanks for criticizing my shitty rices, how do I into getting rid of that 4chanX navigation bar up top?
my system icons got all messed up but whatever
ayy i'm using your aimp3 skin
i'm loving it.
I am pretty new to all this so yeah shit all over me if you want. Still got a lot of work to do but gonna leave it at this for tonight.
I've actually scrapped it and made pic related.
Do you wanna see the html or css? I can upload it if you want. I cant remember where i got the template from.
Eh, guess I should have added some syntax palettes and window borders. Wanted to do something winter related but lacked the right vector/wall and maybe the proper inspiration
sup /w/ finally finished installing gentoo and setting it up. pls no bully
Simple, clean and not overdone. Great choice on the background color. The only thing I don't like is how gray the clock is. It doesn't match the white icons very well at all, plus the desktop looks kind of empty. Still, would personally give it a high rating even though it is such a basic set-up.
does anyone know what the fuck is up with the captcha right now?
or is that my adblock fucking something
That's because it is just default bbcrim mostly ;w;
In terms of changing and improving on it, I'm fairly stumped. The way it is now looks quite nice enough to me to warrant simply leaving it as is; at least for a while until I learn how to fiddle with my bblean a bit more.
Updated, added borders and changed the powerline Rainmeter a little.
Your bblean font looks pretty bad, other than that it's really nice.
I really like Segoe UI for a sans font.
Windows, explorer gives it away.
Does what work?
Work on your colors.
On windows 8.1.
foobar was being a pain and I have no idea what I'm doing editing the panels and splitters. firefox is a pain as well the title bar is flickering, someone help me out? criticize as well.
I love ubuntu, might want to give that at try.
Make your colours match a consistent theme, the gap on the tab bar looks weird, conky is trash, fix whatever error is coming up in screenfetch, and rice more things.
Nice, but same criticism I had before.
Disgusting contrast, but I still kind of like it.
was gonna comment on this one last night but didn't feel like fixing my userscript for new captcha
I REALLY like this red. You managed to find that perfect h/s/l, non-cornea searing shade that is both extremely pleasing to look at and a lovely mixer for the other elements of your style. As the others have said, bblean needs a bit of sprucing but absolutely phenomenal otherwise.
My hard drive is crapping out and it's time for a fresh install. Contemplating moving up to Windows 8.1, does a workspace/twm environment play well with the new environment? I personally used windawesome on w7 but it's pretty buggy.
How can I change the font color of the non-selected tab please? This is the only thing that really bugs me with this style. I am really bad with Vista Style Builder. Any help please?
Yeah I've been trying to get rid of that gap next to the tabs but I don't know how to remove it. It seems I can change the color with .tabbrowser-tabs but changing the margin, border, and padding does nothing.
Can someone help me out?
How can I display the system tray icons in the bar?
When I was editing the .rc earlier I think I removed it.
Also, is there a way to have the bblean skin title bar transparent?
I cannot into 4chan extensions because my captchas aren't working for some odd reason. Shit sucks.
Did I finally into fixing the color scheme?
Actually I found some pretty nice ones that work with windows 8.1, at-least they don't seem bugged to me.
The only reason I'm on windows 8 and not back on linux is because the programs I use.
It also feels more at home to me.
barely switched from mac to pc recently, not sure where to go from here.
