Has anyone ever had a number or numbers that seemed to follow them around? Did they represent specific things? What force seemed to be behind them? Were there days when it seemed clear that something strange was going on and other days where it felt more like simple confirmation bias?
>where it felt more like simple confirmation bias?
Negate the most likely scientific answer at start so lunacy can reign.
The number 1337 follows me since ever i looked up the meaning of it when i was just a little boy since then it just keeps popping up here and there (exactly the moment i look at my watch, ammo in a game)
cell a bias, silly
I am aware of the theory that you see all numbers equally, except the ones that stick out to you register in your mind so you feel like you always see a certain number. I forget what its called. But anyways in my case, it simply isn't true. It started just about a year ago when I started seeing the numbers 911 in very interesting and significant moments in my life. Most of the time I was in a certain state of mind, would glance over almost instinctually and see the numbers. It was like a part of me knew that the numbers were going to be there even before I looked. It is hard to describe the feeling in words. The numbers appear to me in such a way that they make me stop dead in my tracks and my jaw drops to the floor at the synchronicity. The moment, already monumentally and personally significant to me, is reinforced by the numbers. As in, the numbers appear right after a very important moment in my life, almost like the universe responding to me. It has strengthened my faith in the universal consciousness and God more powerfully than just about anything else.
A quick little google search shows a lot of spiritual sites saying that 911 is the universe sending signs through numbers. Mostly pertaining to finding your higher purpose and your mission in life. I take these signs seriously. To be honest, normally I wouldn't, but once again the way the numbers were presented to me I cannot deny its significance. It really helps me move forward in confidence, and I am grateful.
You get a number stuck in your head you see it everywhere, it's called confirmation bias.
It is not magic.
It is not a sign.
It's how human brains are wired.
You are not a special snowflake.
I know it sounds cheesy but everyday without meaning to I look at the clock at 9:11 it always is by accident for example I accidentally pull out my ear buds from my phone and the screen pops up showing the time
The number 8
When I was little I played a Mario carry game and always came in last place (8th)
I remember saying 8 was my favorite number because that's what place I always got
I started dating my now husband on 8-8-2008
8 is the infinity symbol when turn on its side and has appeared while I meditate quite frequently
It has shown up in other areas but nothing stands out
" You want to find the number 216 in the world, you will be able to find it everywhere. 216 steps from a mere street corner to your front door. 216 seconds you spend riding on the elevator. When your mind becomes obsessed with anything, you will filter everything else out and find that thing everywhere." -Sol Robeson, Pi, 1998
23 i guess but it's kinda weird. My birthday is 9/23, my birth weight was 9.23 pounds, and this whole world ending on September 23rd bullshit was my 23rd birthday. Not to mention my first randomly generated username had 23 in it.
Honesty I could give a shit
For the last 20 years I have seen the number 44 everywhere. It started during a game of Ouija board. A group of friends and I were talking to a spirit and asking questions. We would take turns asking questions that were personal and nobody would know. When it was my turn, I removed my hands from the game and asked the spirit how old my father was when he died and how he died. The spirit was correct. My father had a heart attack at the age of 44.
After that, it just started to appear everywhere. I would wake up from a dead sleep and look at the clock. It was 44 after. I would do this half dozen times a night, always 44 after. I would see 44 on license plates, receipts, paperwork, clocks, tv, everywhere. I saw it so often that I thought I was going crazy. Sometimes I see it a hundred times a day. Sometimes more than others. I still see it far more often than any other number. It's way too often to be anything other than a sign. But I don't know what it means. When I tell people about it, they see it too. It becomes part of their daily lives. Like when I told my wife about it, she thought I was crazy. The next day, she is driving in our new car, and thinking what are the odds of seeing 44 when you look at a clock. While thinking about this, she looks at the clock, it is 44 after and she also looks at the odometer which just turned 444 miles.
I can't even begin to tell you all the crazy situations that have happened. Every time it happens, it feels like a slap in the face like somebody or something is trying to get my attention. I see 44 more often when I am having troubles in my life or having a very trying time. To this day, it still scares me.
Same old bullshit. Some cases? Sure, might be CB. But without knowing the circumstances it's impossible to say. You are making a blanket statement about a situation you don't know the details of.
the number "73" comes up alot for me, but I'm sure it's probably just confirmation bias. Also 37 or just 7 or 3. Maybe some kinda prime thing? 37 does have a bunch of cool properties though :)
Same here. For years (not 20, though) I've seen 44 everywhere. I associate it with endings and so around 5 years ago I swore to kill myself when I turned 44. Not a day goes by that I don't see 44's and it's always on my mind.
The reason the numbers follow you, is because of your brain.
Your eyes see whats in front of you, what you're looking at.
But, behind all of that. Your brain will notice things that you have programmed into it.
Such as one instance.
"Oh I've been noticing this number around me a lot."
From there forth, your brain will work to FIND that number again. Almost as if you are subconsciously seeking it out.
Your mind is you; But, not entirely.
My number is 526.
For a while there, I assumed I was going to die on my birthday.
Then I've read more into it, and what answer I've given you is a simplified version of what it would explain.
Good book on numerology. Number 23 scares me though.
Let's say I buy a lotto ticket one morning, last four digits are 77 77. Then I check the mail later and have a check in it for $77.77. That evening I get a call from someone and the last 4 digits are 7777. That night I look up the address of a business I need to visit the next day and its 7777 cbfag street. This is not CB. Doesn't mean it's anything supernatural either. Possible it could be several coincidences but what are the odds of that exactly? I'm not noticing 7777 just because I'm thinking off it. The odds of repeating the same quads numerous times throughout the day in things like addresses and phone numbers is pretty low.
My point was, you need to know the details before you start spouting your CB shit.
The number 11 is still following me and it's been six years. Whenever I look at a clock it'll read 's something:11. I'll be reading a book and when I look at the page number it's 11 or 111. I even bought a book about it.
I've always had a thing for the number three.
I also have a number/colour/feeling correlation between my numbers.
I call them dry and wet numbers, and the colours often associate the landscapes of dry/wet places which is why I call them that.
1= Yellow number. It's kind of a dry number for me, it reminds me more of like a hot summers day. Maybe the beach.
2= Yellow number. Similar to 1.
3= Is a dark green or blue number. It's often associated with rainforests and dripping water.
And so on and so forth, although I have numbers like 7 and 8 which are red numbers, which I really really dislike. They remind of vast expansive deserts and dying of dehydration. Sometimes if I think about these numbers enough, I'll get a headache.
Anyone care to explain?
My birthday is 9/11. My uncle had 911 tattoo'd on his arm as his lucky number. He recently hung himself.
It appears everywhere but that's probably just me being stupid. But my girlfriend notices it too
Damn. but I think the above anon, plus >>16928906 and >>16930805, are basically right, sadly. :/
You have synesthesia. I found out about it from this book I read as a teen, A Mango-Shaped Space. Turns out my mom has some form of it. I related to the book in that my numbers have colors, etc, but I don't like, physically see the color laid overtop of the number visually, like some people do. I just...involuntarily assign these associated colors to the numbers.
